I'm a VERY UNHAPPY customer! We have been eating frequently at Brookstreet BBQ in Sugar Land for 10 years, but the last 2 take-out orders have both been wrong, with this evening's completely unacceptable! Last visit my orders had no BBQ sauce at all - not on the side nor on the meat. Today's order wasn't even close to what I ordered. I ordered a sliced beef sandwich with fries and a chopped beef baked potato. When I got home with our order, what I was given was 2 baked potatoes with everything on the side, and 2 orders of fried okra. We threw away the okra, and only ate half the baked potato!
To make matters worse, when I got to the drive-thru takeout area, the woman asked me to insert my credit card into the reader on the iPad, then asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I said yes, and she selected a tip amount without asking or telling me the amount, scribbled a signature on the iPad, and gave me back my credit card. This is clearly a case of credit card forgery and against the agreement with the Credit Card provider.
Since we have always been please by Brookstreet BBQ in the past, I will give them one more takeout try. If the next time is as bad, we will not be back!
UPDATE: Gave them another try on Jan. 2 and everything worked well this time. The order was exactly right, and the person taking my credit card handed me the tablet to determine my tip and to sign my name. So I have increased my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. If the future service improvement continues as it was this visit, I will increase...
Read moreIt's very difficult to find good bbq in Sugar Land because of their smoke ordinance. So, you don't get that good pit smoked flavor. We always liked Brookstreet BBQ. This time, I ordered the two meat with brisket and turkey. If you know brisket, you have to order it with marbling otherwise you might get a very lean piece of meat. That's anywhere. The brisket I had was very tender and had a really good smoke taste, but not strong. The smoked turkey was the best I ever had. Very moist with good flavor. I never use bbq with the meat. If the meat is good, why drown it with sauce? Brookstreet doesn't even pour their sauce on their meat. Why? Because they don't need to hide poor quality meat. Some places will do this. I watched a bbq show on tv and a pitmaster said never get bbq covered in sauce. He said the pit guy is trying to cover up something. I truly believe this. Get your sauce on the side. I do dunk my bread into the sauce. Portions can seem to be a bit small. However, I think the smaller portions justify the price. Other bbq joints might have bigger portions, but their prices are higher as well. Pick your poison, it's the way things have been for the past few years.
The cons. Employees aren't very enthusiastic, but I'm here to eat not to socialize. The lady who brought out my food was very nice and polite. This last time, the sauce was very vinegary. It's never been a sweet sauce, but it's never been...
Read moreLet's start with the good. They make excellent barbecue here. You aren't going to be disappointed by the quality of food. It is Texas barbecue at it's finest and ranks up there with other great restaurants of this type. There is a decent variety and more sides you can choose from as well. Now the not so great is the quantity you receive for the price. I can't remember the last time I've seen your meat being measured out to the ounce. On top of that you don't get that much food for the price you are paying. I'm not a big guy but we even i had to order the 3 meat platter just to feel full. And i don't feel the price justifies the amount you receive. Having said that, you will be satisfied by the taste. But don't expect a cheap meal here or a place you might regularly...
