Abuelita's — Restaurant in Sulphur

My wife and I ate here on a Sat evening and was not impressed at all. Actually we left practically full plates due to the food was not good. Then while in town still, some friends wanted us to meet them there and were like "Augh". I tell my wife "let's just get fajitas, surely the can't screw them up". Well we ordered fajitas for two (chicken&beef) when they arrived the amount of food is what would normally be served for a single order. Very little meat and very over-coooked/well-done. Moving forward we made the best of it. Now I'm not telling the rest to bash them I just want them to be aware that they have a problem. My wife and I both acquired food poisoning from here. It hit me about 8 hrs after and my wife about 12 hrs. This was the first time either of us had food poisoning in our lives. It is no fun. It lasted for days.

I would give this restaurant a 0 if I could and here’s why: the food was wonderful. The server was kind and provided great service. We ordered food for our family of 5 and we were there around 2 pm. We received our bill and it was over $7 more than it should have been. We double checked with a calculator and based on the menu prices, we were overcharged so my husband went in to talk to the owner. The owner claimed that he had changed the prices and every item was a dollar more than the menu reflected. But he was going to change the menu. Ummm, no, my husband did not accept that answer and demanded he pay us back the difference. The owner paid but then said for us not to come back. Why? Because my husband wouldn’t let him steal from us?

Let me start off by saying this place used to be the best around. Last night I took my son there for a birthday dinner. We waited 30 minutes for drinks. Another 30 for them to take our order, then another 30-45 minutes for our food. My Mom ordered her food, they brought her the wrong food. We told them, asked them to remake it, they didn't understand why it was wrong. Even through we had ask for the specific changes. We asked them to sing Happy birthday to my son, it never happened. We asked for refills, never got them. It wasn't like it was crazy busy. The food that we did get was still good. But the service was overall terrible. Idk how this place has went down hill so badly. When I went to pay, the lady taking the payment aruged with me for 30 minutes about why we were wrong and how the server was right. I just paided and left. We won't be back because the server can't take the order correctly. We used to love this...
