It was our first time eating at Joe's. We stopped by after others recommended their pizza. Our experience didn't make a good first impression. It was both bad and good. It turns out we arrived during shift change which was not a good thing service and quality wise. I'll explain the reasons for the luke warm review. I'm actually being generous based on most of our experience there. First of all, it was a bad day for sweet tea. It was pricey and the worst tea, I can remember in recent times. It tasted like tea water. It was vaguely sweet and watered down. It barely taste like tea. As someone who spent years in the restaurant industry, my theory is that someone was lazy during shift change and didn't want to make fresh tea, so they added water to the leftover tea. We hardly drank any, so it was a waste of money. Then we got our pizzas. The server brought out 2 burnt pizzas to our table and asked if we wanted them or should they remake them. That should not even been a question. Never bring something like that to someone's table to begin with. They were trash pizzas. No manager was on the floor. No concessions offered for the inconvenience and added wait time. When we finally got the second pizza, the first waitress never bothered to tell us she was leaving nor introduced the new waitress. She just left. We were very polite the entire time. The new waitress delivered the fresh pizzas. This time we had good pizzas and a better, friendlier waitress. The second pizzas were outstanding and what I expected them to be the first go round. Another thing to note, Joe's has a full bar. I guess if you want a specialty drink don't ask. Being a Texas girl, I love a good freshly made margarita. I asked if they could make margaritas and I was referred to the clear beverage machine that was full of a bright shamrock colored concoction that made me think of St. Patrick's Day. I was told that only those disgusting house margaritas were available. I passed and opted for the nasty tea. Again, our second pizza was outstanding, but it shouldn't take 2 tries. Major quality control issues at Joe's. We will go back, but only to get pizza to go and we will be sure to inspect it...

Read moreWe were very disappointed from the moment we walked in. There were two hostesses at the front and neither acknowledged we were standing there. They had a one to two minute conversation before looking up (I was standing directly in front of the host stand). We were seated and it took a while for our server to get there. She was very indifferent and detached the entire service--never a smile or anything. She brought our beverages and bread, took our order and we didn't see her again until everyone was almost finished eating. No check back or refills were ever offered. After she finally brought the check, it was a long wait before she picked our payment back up. We were actually about to walk around the restaurant to find someone to pay. The food was pretty bad. We had stuffed mushrooms that were way too salty, the pasta dishes were very over sauced and the sauce was too thick and gloopy (for lack of a better word). This is also the first Italian restaurant I have ever been to that charges for dipping oil for bread. For the record, I'm not one of those people who expect perfection when we go out to eat. I never send food back and am always easy going when I am at a restaurant--there is just no excuse for bad, indifferent service and mediocre food. The fact that I never say a manager walking around during lunch service to check on tables pretty much explains the experience we had. $100 for lunch and we will...
