Godwin’s Beer Hall — Restaurant in Summerville

I recently visited Godwin's. They market themselves as bringing a European beer hall feel to Summerville. Visually, they have done exceptionally well with paying homage to the beer halls I have visited in Europe.

They invoke the spirit a beer hall through touches such as having long wooden "community" tables with benches rather than individual tables and chairs. The bar is also wooden with stools that are surprisingly comfortable. The decor has a "travel" flair with world globes and hanging maps. A taxidermy antelope graces the wall above the bar. The bartender even had a retro-European look. He wore a button-down shirt and a dark apron and his hair was slicked down.

If you are bringing a dog or just because it's a nice day and you would like sitting outside, they do have a small outdoor seating area. It is greatly improved from the brewery that was previously there as they have built a deck so the tables now sit flat and your beer won't slide off.

They have fantastic selection of beer from around the world. Of course, most non-domestic beer is available in bottles and cans only. The tap options include several US brews as well as more readily available international brands, such as Guinness. They also offer layered beers, beer cocktails, and a small selection of wine.

The service was prompt and friendly. While they do not have a full kitchen, they do have a few food offerings including bratwurst, currywurst, Italian sausage, and kielbasa. While I didn't try them, it was nice to know there were food...

I recently visited Godwin's Beer Hall and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The cozy Bohemian atmosphere made it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The decor was eclectic and charming, adding to the overall welcoming vibe of the place.

One of the standout features of Godwin's Beer Hall is their seasonally rotating draft list. They always have a great selection, including a stout, IPA, pilsner, lager, witbeer, amber, cider, mead, and sour. It's a beer lover's paradise! The variety ensures there's something for everyone, and it keeps things exciting with new options to try each season.

Been here a few times and have never had an issue. We came in for a quick beer and a cider sampling at 12:30pm. The bar tender asked my wife if she was pregnant as she asked for a small tasting of the pear cider. My wife being pregnant said yes. She only wanted a sample of it. In my experience it's illegal to refuse service to a pregnant woman as it's a medical condition and discriminatory. We will not be returning after that interaction with this bartender.
