Margarita's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Summerville

The service was slow, very slow. Some parts of our order (4 people) was missing. After telling them, it took about 30 minutes for the missing onions and green peppers to be brought to our table, a few other items took a little less time maybe 20 minutes. By the time they brought it, and we added it to our plates, our food was almost cold. The food was tasteless, no seasonings, the cheese sauce was very obviously just cheap fake cheese slices (the ones that are wrapped in foil in a 16 pack for less than $2)). melted on top of anything where any sauce or cheese was supposed to be. It was horrible, I couldn't eat it. The shredded chicken was not seasoned, I have never tasted any chicken that bad. My teenage kids and my husband had ordered different items with beef in/on it. None of them liked their food either, again, because it wasn't seasoned. We asked for some spices, anything, pepper, salt, paprika, but they brought us a half a bottle of hot sauce. My husband put hot sauce on his food, it didn't make it taste much better All the food was plain and bland. The Mexican beans in rice were not the right beans. It was refried beans, and shredded cheese sprinkled over it. Still no taste, no spices, nothing. My kids usually eat everything they order, they are teenagers and can eat a lot. But this time they didn't. They didn't even want to take the food home. Even the water was disgusting. I guess it was tap water, but not a good kind. I took one sip and almost spit it out. I really am so disappointed. It was my husband's and my birthday, and we thought the restaurant must be good, since every time we drive by there are guests there. I don't know why they go there, maybe for drinks, can't be the food, but we will never eat there again. I also will tell my friends not to go there. We go to different restaurants quite a lot, and not every ones food is great. But it's edible. Not so with this one. It was a waste of...

The service. This place is trash. Plain and simple. Our server was both unfriendly and inattentive. Once he delivered the food we never saw him again until I had to make some noise at the table to get someone's attention after my cup sat empty long enough for the ice to melt and the entire staff refused to acknowledge we were even there. Then they started talking loudly about me and my wife as if we were inconveniencing them by wanting service....at a full service restaurant.

The food. Oh God the food. It's my understanding that guacamole should be green. Ours was brown and watery with a crust on top. I tried a bite. I won't be doing that again. I ordered quesabirria tacos. Quesabirria is supposed to be made with steamed pork. The version I was served must have been some exotic recipe where they use the pork fat and serve it on stale tortillas which seem to be deep fried maybe 20 or so minutes longer than normal. Perhaps the cook forgets about the food the way the servers forget about their tables; or maybe it's just general disregard for both quality of food and service. Either way, Margarita's on Main Street in Summerville makes Waffle House feel like a 5-star fine dining experience.

Final thought. If you like being treated like your general presence is a nuisance by a staff that won't be inconvenienced by your selfish, needy requests like refills and an update on the whereabouts of food you ordered more than half an hour prior, you're in luck, friends! Margarita's on Main Street in Summerville will provide all the warm, welcoming atmosphere of a prison chow hall complete with the dining experience akin to dumpster diving.

Aug 2025 Got the Pizzabirra. Think grandma's potroast and cheese on a fried soft taco shell

Aug 2023 Ive been here many times since covid restrictions were lifted. Outside is great. I thought i was in Peurto Rico. They final have Birria on the menu. They have pizzabirria and quesobirria. Its like potroast and cheese in a fried taco shell. Onions are on the side June 2021 Service still great. Building undergoing renovations, but not on inside yet. Street corn was mucho fabulous, 5 stars. Soft tacos was cold shell, cold cheese and luke warm meat. I think a prep step was missed in the kitchen. 1 star on the soft tacos 🌮 that are normally 5 stars. FEB 2021 As a patron of a restaurant there are some common rules you should follow. Some people at 1 table on my last trip ignored them If the restaurant is very busy you have an acceptable time limit after you finish your meal to pay and leave, there are other people that want to eat, spend $$$ and the restaurant needs to pay the rent 2.That amount of time is not 45 minutes, just because they do it on the TV show Mom doesn't make it right Don't be a loud talker, I dont want to hear about your husband's ED from 3 tables away.
