Aversano's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Sumner

I love the food here at Aversano's It's always tasty and good portions. I rated our visit a 4 star instead of 5 as the service today was poor. The restaurant wasn't busy as it was a late lunch for us, we arrived at 230p. We weren't able to see nor locate the Hostess. We had to walk into the bar to find her. She was sitting with another patron looking at her phone... She seated us and assured us that our waitress would be with us shortly. After returning from the bathroom I could see that the waitress had indeed been to our table. Menus, water and silverware was on the table. About 5 minutes goes by and she comes back to take our order. At which time we order drinks and our lunch as we feel this would be the best way to get it quickly. Drinks come, taste great. Salad comes, they're good. 10 minutes later out comes our entrées. This taste great too. The waitress never comes back after she deliveres our food. Not for anything. To ask how it is, see if we need anything, refill or waters, need another cocktail. I don't ask for much. Just consistency, Kindness and hospitality. Especially in the service industry. I've been in the service industry for 30 years... Our waitress lacked all 3 Never asked us if we wanted separate checks, simply dropped off our check and walked away. And then, when I asked her for that, she was put off. All in all I love this joint. The service needs some fine tuning,...

I'd like to say this place used to be really great. Today it was not how I remembered it.

Party of 11, had made reservations ahead of time. From the moment we walked in the door the service was poor. Everyone seemed like they hated their job, walking around like zombies. It was like we were a put out for them, although with a party of 11 if you played your cards right the payout could be good!

Seated, no water. 8 minutes later, no water, no server. 10 minutes later after we had to grab someone and ASK for service we finally got luke warm service. At best. And the salad dishes were FILTHY!! like had what looked like soot all over them and they were so greasy. So we of course asked for different ones and dear god no one was doing anything fast there. When we finally got the new plates he said, "I washed them for you, they are still wet. I can wipe them for you if you want ".....like, what? Uh, what?

They dropped our pizza, so again it took forever.

The calzone was so doughy my friend couldn't eat it.

My spaghetti had zero taste.

"Garlic bread" was in actuality garlic toast.

The third star is simply because in the end our server did the right thing, didn't charge us for the pizza and a couple free drinks.

Stick with the salad bar, that's your best bet.

Anyway, it was just sad to see a place I remember...

Been going to Aversano's since late 80's. Had our wedding rehearsal dinner there in the early 90's. Went last night to celebrate our 27th anniversary. We had our grandbaby with us this time also. None of the usual waitresses were there. Took a bit to get drinks ordered. After receiving drinks, and asking again where the milk was for our grandbaby, we ordered cheesy garlic bread. Which was good, but seemed in smaller pieces compared to usual. After ordering food and caesar salads from the kitchen, we sat and waited forever....still no salads! All if a sudden, our meals show up! We sent them back until after we ate our salads which had never come yet. I asked for "fresh" dinners to follow, but had to request our grandbaby's meal now because she was hungry. Our waitress never apologized, and just said "oh that's my bad!" When our meals came, they were super hot and served with potholders which is not the norm for them. It was obvious they had just been kept warm while we ate our salads. How disappointing! Out of all these years giving them our business, we were truly disappointed! She didnt offer to do anything for our wait for our food, nor did she even apologize!! Let's just say the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths! ...
