Side Bar — Restaurant in Sumter

My daughter and I went to place an order to go, I asked for a menu to place a to go order. I was given a menu but the server did not mention the time they stop doing to go orders. It only took us a couple mins to look over the menu. Numerous times the servers checked on the customers near the end of the bar where we stood but nobody ever asked us if we were ready. I asked a server if she could take our order she said no but would tell one of the servers behind the bar. I saw her tell her. She looked over at us but did not come over. She looked at us two more times. The nicer server I asked first came by and asked if they took our order I said no. She said she would take our order. In the meantime another employee comes over and informs us that they were stopping to go orders but she knew we had been waiting a while so they would take ours. In the middle of trying to place an order the employee who blatantly refused to serve us came over to tell us they stopped taking to go orders. At that point I informed her we were told they would take our order, we had been standing there for 30 mins. I gave them the menu back and said I won’t be making an order and left. Proof that downtown Sumter might actually be getting that revitalization that 'they 'keep promising. An excellent beer and liquor selection. Local breweries, as well as other popular selections. The food itself is also quite good. Worth the trip based solely on their hush puppies! Our group made sure to all order something different, and then eat a bit of each, family style. The Peedee Pattie (burger) was delicious, with the fried green tomato being a nice touch. Riblets were the daily special and were tasty and well cooked. My only complaint would be the shrimp lettuce wraps. Though the shrimp was well cooked and quite tasty the lettuce is overly large, and extremely messy. The entire dish seemed to be floating in pool of watery sauce. We ended up just eating the shrimp and vegetables with a fork and forgoing the lettuce "wrap" portion all together. Let me start that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Sumter. Unfortunately last night while 6 of us ladies were celebrating one's birthday it wasn't great. First we waited an hour for a table which we knew it would take some time for a party of six. Problem was we saw them ready a table for us outside and then they failed to seat us there for another 20 minutes. We placed our orders and all was fine for a bit. Our food came out very staggered and almost every order was wrong. The food which is usually great was way over seasoned. Too much salt on the fried pickles and the fried seafood batter had something hot in it that caused our mouths to burn. They normally have great seafood. We waited 15 minutes for silverware after our food came. Our water was never refilled. And of course they add in their own gratuity for larger parties soooo. We go there often for birthdays.
