Kam's Roti Shop — Restaurant in Sunrise

Back in August this year (2023) I Google Indian restaurant because my friend & neighbor wanted to take me to a Belated birthday lunch. I found several of them. However, I found Kam's Roti Shop to be the closest one to us. Online they have that they hours are 9 AM to 9 PM daily. My friend Reina drove us there for lunch, only to find the shop close. So we look up another Indian restaurants near by & we drove there and that was not open either so Then we went to "Joy's Roti Delight" & had lunch.

On November 17th, 2023, The Multi Cultural Activity Club Int'l of SLP4 was having a Medicare Book talk, & after the Book talk, was the Cultural celebration of Diwali "Hindu Festival of Lights" and "Thanksgiving" and I need Indian food for the Diwali celebration part of the event. So, the day before, I started calling Kam's Roti Shop to place an order. (Based on the distance & the prices they have online) I make several calls, several times and got no answer & these calls were place during the day between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM I leave messages. Then I decided to call from my other phone number (different number) And finally Chef Kam answer the phone & speaking like a huge hag/🐖 to me. I had my order written down based off of pricing online. So, I explained all of the above to her and I started placing the order for 15 Doubles at $2 each & 15 Alao Pie at $2 each & 4 orders of Pholouri at 12 for $2 etc.. (which again is her pricing listed online to be pick up at 11 AM the next day) Chef Kam snapped out that she don't have Doubles for $2, She have Doubles for $3 & She don't have Alao Pie for $2 She have it for $3 each, and she have 10 Pholouri for $2 not 12 Pholouri. I ask her how much is her Roti & she says $4. I told her OKay and I now place the order based on the new pricing she gives me on the phone. I Order 10 Doubles $30, 10 Aloe Pie $30, 2 Roti $8 & $8 Pholouri. A total of $76 dollars & I know with 7% tax would be plus $5.32. Which will bring my total to $81.32 cents. Chef Kam it's going on & on (still speaking like a huge hag) that I have to pay half deposit. I said sure, no problem and I was giving her my credit card info. she said she do not have credit card machine for payment. I said okay how do you want me to pay? Because of the dishonest business practice, she has been conducting for all years she's in business. She's now saying repeatedly "Sunita make sure you come to pick up this order!" & asked "what is your phone number? and I give her my phone number again etc.

On 11/17. I went at 11 AM to pick up the order. Chef Kam Brought out the doubles & alao pie with 3, 3 oz disposable container, 1 with pepper sauce, & 2 with another sauce in a recycled cardboard box cover. And the items was not properly wrapped in the grease proof paper because she was skimping the paper. I was shocked so I ask her, If she don't have Foil-Pan? And she repeated my question but Did not answer it. Obviously, she doesn't have. So, I said never mind and I took it and I put it in my foil-bag. She went back into her kitchen, telling me to wait, she can't hear me & these things take time to make etc. Then she brought all the other items, opening the box making false comments saying "if I see all this she didn't charge me for all of this" and there was nothing else except what I ordered. She just continued her lying scheme. Then I told her I need a receipt because it's for a club and I told her that I read reviews where people says she does not give receipts. She took out a pad that has some other company info. on it. Chef Kam Don't only not have a credit card machine to take payments she does not even have a receipt book to issue and receipt to customers. Not even a receipt book! She told me to write the info. on pad & I did. I know the total but I asked her how much $ she goes $96. She's ripping me off $15 (Scammer) but I put $96 & then I gave her a $100 she did not give me back my $4 change even though she was already ripping me off $15. I make sure she sign the receipt. Karma...

Awesome authentic Trinidadian food in a laid back local spot, Kam's is an awesome find for delicious homemade food.

I am vegetarian, so I always eat the doubles. I always go there with a carnivorous friend or two, and they swear the curry goat roti. They have a selection of soft drinks, juices, and beers. I usually get a Red Stripe or one of the fresh island juices. I love spice, and they can really spice it up if you ask.

My favorite is their hot sauce. If you ask, you can purchase some to go. It is spicy and very flavorful.

I wouldn't say this is a spot for a rantic first date, but it is definitely a local treasure for those who like Trini/West Indian food and want to fill their bellies with deliciousness.

The prices are very affordable and the service is like eating at your feisty aunt's house. I think you'll love...

I got pumpkin, baigan chokah and tomatoes chokah. I got it with paratha roti

Let me tell allyuh how it lash! Everything was flavorful and I dspicLly liked the pumpkin and baigan it taste like home. Only thing missing was some muddah-en-law and a cool glass of mauby!!

Original review: Came for the doubles. And it didn’t disappoint. I was speaking to a coworker that had tried doubles from there recently and they commented that they were good. I went to try them as I was craving a good doubles.
