This place is definitely a gem! It looks unassuming when you first walk in, but then you’re greeted by the friendliest hostess/server. She owns the place along with her family and that just gives this place an extra layer of warmth. THEN, the food comes out! What you get is amazing quality along with the awesome service. I was definitely able to tell the difference in quality compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. Everything is definitely made from scratch. My husband is a very picky eater since he’s an amazing cook himself and I can’t remember the last time he enjoyed his food so much!
The wings— perfectly crispy! They had the most satisfying crunch that paired perfectly with the pickled radish cubes. To me this was the star of the show.
Tteokbokki— another star attraction. The sauce was perfectly balanced and the rice cakes were soft without being mushy. This is where the quality really showed for me, I could tell this wasn’t frozen food.
Tempura Udon— beautiful flavor, although it could have used a bit more protein :) overall serving size was quite large.
Jjampoong- simply delicious and huge serving size! Not too spicy and full of flavor.
Sides— all sides were delicious and refillable. By far my favorite were the little marinated shrimp.
Last but not least, you much try the Kimchi. HIGHLY recommend ;)
Can’t wait...
Read moreSmall mom & pop resto. Super casual, without the finish of a Gabose around the way. Not much in the way of ambiance - not that it mattered to me. But it may to some. The haemul pajeon was fantastic. One of the best renditions I’ve had in years. Anywhere. Certainly the best I’ve had in SoFlo. On par with LA K-town. Better than Fort Lee. Crackling crispy, and stayed that while in the 5 minutes it took me to inhale it. Lots of fresh green scallions, and enough seafood. LA galbi though was pretty disappointing. Flavor could’ve been deeper and the quantity was not as much as, say, Hodori in LA. Quality of the meat was so-so. Banchan was plentiful and generously refilled whenever requested. The homemade kimchi however lacked punch. Perhaps I got unlucky with a young batch - it certainly could’ve used some more time to become more pungent. Very friendly service. Pricing was standard, for Korean food in SoFlo, a little inflated versus LA, Fort Lee and Las Vegas. Overall, I...
Read moreWent to the Korea Restaurant because I saw it was closeby and was not disappointed in the slightest! It's a bit hard to spot, it looks like it's part of the restaurant neither but when you're inside it's a cozy little place that's small but has space to move around in and is very clean! There is a TINY language barrier with the servers bit not TOO much and aside from that, they were very good at their jobs! Food was great, the side dishes are plentiful and aside from one I enjoyed they immensely, just as much as I enjoyed the fried dumplings I git as an appetizer and beef dish woth rice I got as an main course! Try Korea Restaurant, it's a humble little hole in the wall I enjoyed and think others would to!
Pictures below are of the restaurant inside and out, menu,...
