We arrived 1.5 hours before closing. One other family was being served. I arrived with myself & 6 children. 7 of us total. 3 of my children ordered from kid menu, the other 3 ages 11, 14 & 15 ordered from adult meals. Portions were huge. Could have gotten away with all kid meals for all kids. Momma on a budget I expected our bill to be so much calculating in my head each meal and ad on. We had a wonderful meal and came time to pay. I noticed the bill was much steeper than I expected. Did not want to dwell or ruin a wonderful meal, so I paid & left with intentions of checking the receipt once I got a quiet moment to away from the kids. I expected around $80 to $90 dollar bill and was hit with almost $150! When I got that moment I was charged a fee for over 7 people & auto gratuity rate at a set percent. When I added without the fees my bill was $92, finding myself I believed over charged by $58. I phoned the restaurant the next day & was explained there are “party” fees for 7 or more & when there is a party there is automatically a tip/ gratuity charged. I explained I came in with 6 children and myself. We were not a party & surely did not utilize a party room. Just sharing I was a mother with kids the gentleman was already reversing the charges and apologizing. I was never told of these fees prior. Would have thought about continuing to dine here. Being I was in tow of 6 kids I did plan to leave a healthy tip, yet feeling strong armed by the server by not being informed of these steep extra charges I left half of what I would have. We always clean & organize our eating area before exiting a restaurant. All remaining food scrapped to one plate, another plate holds all dirty utensils and so on. Yes we are one of those, even with nice tips left. It’s how we live! Clean! And it’s delivery of service we...
Read moreThis was my first experience with the Golden Inn...... I ordered for 3 of us. I ordered the HAPPY FAMILY, according to their menu it is Tenderloin beef, lobster, pork, chicken, snow pea-pods, vegetables and oyster sauce. I have no idea what the beef was but it certainly was NOT tenderloin!!!!! I found no lobster but I had shrimp .... it says snow pea-pods but had less than all the other vegetables. Oyster sauce is a mixture of caramelized oyster juices (a byproduct of cooking oysters in water for a prolonged period of time), salt, sugar, and sometimes soy sauce that is thickened with cornstarch. What you end up with is a dark, syrupy sauce that resembles whatever the love child of soy sauce and barbecue sauce would look like..... BUT not this. It was clear. When I called to say that I must have received the wrong meal I was told that the lobster was really small pieces ... I asked what about the shrimp? She did not answer that question. I asked about the lack of snow pea pods ... She would not answer that question. I asked about the Oyster Sauce and she explained to me that their Oyster Sauce was clear ... REALLY?????? Of our 3 meals nobody finished theirs! Now if she knew anything about customer service we would have written this off as just a bad night, but because she argued everything I asked about I will NEVER order from the GOLDEN INN again and I will be happy to let everyone I know know about the terrible service and lousy...
Read moreVery fast at the counter, but still very polite. I ordered a combo Kung Pao chicken hot.
What I got was a mountain of delicious fresh celery, peas, carrots, mushrooms and peanuts steaming atop of a hot pile of lightly marinated tender, juicy, thin microfilets of chicken that, deep down in the box, were swimming in a silky sauce that could have been spicier but still performed very, very well. This was enough chicken to pass around a table of 3, easily; I knew I couldn’t finish it all in one sitting, hard as it may be.
The other half of the box was stuffed with house fried rice, which to my amazement, contained both chicken, pork AND shrimp without an extra charge. But wait, there’s more. There was a baggie resting on top of the box when the bag was first opened. I slid one hand inside and took a peek: indeed, just as the young man who took my order over the phone had promised, there were both wonton and egg roll in the baggie. As I kept munching on my side dishes, I realized there were not only two, but 4 Golden cream cheese wontons along with the savory egg roll. Four. Plus egg roll. I am in heaven. Thank you.
TLDR; amazing place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ just wish they...
