Place has no manager- owner is too busy focused on their dairy place across the street. Food was reheated, service was bad.
10:15 reservation but they stop orders at 10:30. Took 10 minutes to get a waiter, so we were left with "last call". Bread isn't given when you sit down. When we asked for bread, we were told they shut the oven already. I replied "that should have been given when we walked in, or at the very least, immediately after we ordered". They brought us out 2 rolls, which tasted like microwaved reheated. No chance it was an oven because it wasn't crispy.
Sushi and carpaccio was good. But the "short rib sliders" were clearly reheated. Even if you made them fresh that day, they would still glisten with its own fat for hours. Clearly you either keep them in a warmer, or reheated. I compared to the Ribs dish. At the very least put some sauce on them to give them life. Waiter tried to BS that its fresh- but clearly from my attached picture its not. Proof.
Our water was NEVER refilled we got one cup to start the meal. I personally walked over to the bar after the meal to take water after the main dish (steak, which was ok)
When I asked to speak with a manager they told me there was none, so I asked for the owner, and was told he only spends his time accross the street at their dairy place. When I went across, he wasn't there either.
I expressed all of this to my waiter. He apologized for not giving bread or refilling the water, and consistently denied my claim on the freshness of the short rib in the slider. Also had no one else to voice my opinion to, because no one claimed to be a Manager or owner when I asked.
Classic, I can see them trying to refute my review here by denying one thing I'll write, like "yes we do have a manager" and try to have them discredit my review.
They also charge tip mandatory. The waiters might actually try to please the customer if they knew the tip at 18% wasn't guaranteed. Clearly not good service, I was debating on arguing the tip after discussing with the waiter, but I left it as is. Also, being at the end of the night, waiter attention should have been greater, not less, considering fewer people were still dining.
This was my experience, and this is what I was told. Clearly the quality of the place has dropped over the years. This is a new low. I also saw another table complain on their desert. But we were one of the last ones out. I'm sure many people enjoy their meal, but MANY don't have high expectations going in, so they might not know the difference.
I should have read yelp reviews first. One star galore.
Advice to owner- just because you're successful at this place, don't abandon it while you build your other store. Don't be cheap on bread, give it when they walk or, or right after ordering. Have someone there that has authority to hear a complaint. And probably a bit of BBQ sauce in the sliders make them look like 3 days old to fresh. Attention to detail (stupid cheap small details) allow you to gain on your competition. And we all know you have 2 on the block.
Update, to their response: this was me giving Kosh another try. Our last experience was similarly bad service. I've been here many times, and has been...
Read moreReview: From 10/10 to 2/10 – Kosh Miami’s Downfall
For the past 7-8 years, since their opening, I’ve been a loyal customer of Kosh Miami. I used to go there regularly because the food was always delicious. It was one of my favorite restaurants. One of my all-time favorite dishes was the duck, which I always ordered pink. Any restaurant serving duck should know what a pink cook means, right? Well, not here.
During my most recent visit, they first brought out a duck that was burnt to a crisp, charred, and completely inedible. I sent it back and reminded them I wanted it pink, and what did they do? They brought it back raw this time. In the end, we couldn’t even eat it. I’ll attach a photo so you can see what they dared to serve.
How do you go from perfection to this?
The Food: A Complete Disaster Frozen chicken nuggets: Cheap and low-quality. They tasted like something you’d buy at a discount grocery store. Risotto: Normally, duck comes with a side like mashed potatoes or vegetables. Instead, they paired it with a bland, flavorless risotto. To top it off, the waitress made me order another risotto as a side, which should’ve been included with the duck. Appetizers: The only thing remotely acceptable was the carpaccio, but let’s be honest—slicing meat thin and putting it on a plate doesn’t take much skill. The rest? • Arancini: Disgusting. • Sushi: Disgusting. • Braised octopus: It tasted like a 24-hour Shabbat stew gone completely wrong.
The Service: A Joke
The waitress was more interested in flirting with some guy at another table than actually serving her customers. Instead of helping me order something decent, she pushed me to get items that were overpriced and absolutely not worth it.
The Price: An Insult
$470 for this disaster. Honestly, it wasn’t even worth $150. At that price, I expected a premium dining experience, but what I got was something I wouldn’t even pay for at a diner.
Final Thoughts: Kosh is Dead to Me
I will never go back. This restaurant is a complete disgrace now. If you’re looking for a good meal in Miami, go to Arbour Grill, a restaurant that’s been around for years and never disappoints. With them, you’re guaranteed quality.
Kosh Miami, on the other hand, is worth absolutely nothing anymore. Zero. Stay...
Read moreSo I was shopping at bal Harbour and didn’t want to eat at the usual spot so I drove down Harding and found this place. Completely empty on a Saturday night so I tried it. Arrived at 715 pm and sat outside. Was greeted very nicely and was told that the kitchen wouldn’t open until 730. I patiently waited. I had a coke, that was great lol and then it went downhill from there. Prices were surprisingly high, in comparison to faena which I had been the night before for Basel but I said heck let’s try something new. I had the geisha roll and and specifically for all sauces on the side including spicy mayo which I don’t like. Refer to the photos below. It was a 24 dollar roll and basic as can be in both presentation and flavor. My entree was the duck which was 58 dollars. Now this was by far the worst. The presentation for a 58 dollar plate was right out of a lunch truck. It came with a mushroom risotto that was undercooked and the duck has a tamarind sauce that was okay but the flavor of the duck was off. It had a weird taste and this isn’t my first time having duck. I proceeded to dessert and asked for the coconut creek brule. Took my first spoonful of it and the waitress came right over without me saying anything and apologized. Mind you I didn’t even make a face. It was hard and dry not creamy which it what you woukd expect from a regular crème brûlée. She suggested other options and I went for the apple strudel. Well that was offensive. They were large diced cubes of apples with cinnamon and sugar and what seemed to be granola on the bottom with a very tiny scoop of ice cream. The waitress did offer me another scoop of ice cream which I politely turned down. The service was great, however the owner or whom I believe to be the owner sat outside next to my table to listen to an Argentinian soccer game. Slightly annoyed being that the restaurant was completely empty. So my thing with Miami restaurants specially the local ones that thrive on repeat customers … please do better or lower your prices. My total bill was $132 dollars for a meal that felt about $60. Not going back to this place. I hope you guys read this and try...
