I had some estate jewelry for sale a number of pieces and contacted Gray and Sons from their advertisement on the Internet and was happy that I did. The company is run like a well oiled machine and are the most professional and down to earth group I have ever encountered in my life. I have never seen a group work so well together! Jackie March who I talked to originally upon receiving the jewelry sent to them was a very professional and knowledgeable stating she had been with the company for 20 years! In working on finalizing the deal I had the honor of speaking to the owner Keith Gray, what a great guy so down to earth and a expert in his field, the best I have ever encountered! Easy to talk to and a great listener. Keith was a gifted communicator who talked to me in a non can descending way that made me very comfortable and I knew I made the right choice in class contacting Gray and Sons! I recommend to anyone who has estate jewelry to sell to contact Gray and Sons and you to will experience the same professionalism that I did. Mr. Gray thank-you for taking time out of your very busy schedule and talking to me it is an experience that I will never forget! And to Jackie March what a great job to have working with Mr. Keith Gray for 20 years! Thanks again for your time! Jeff Ketay Now the real review. Keith Gray is the most arrogant condescending person I have ever had the unfortunate experience of talking too. I feel in my humble opinion you can do much better in selling your estate jewelry through someone else, his offers are low ball and make no sense. I had my items returned and sold six of the so far for my asking price which was well below wholesale. I am 71 years old been a GG for over 45 years and know the current gemstone market worldwide. I made the mistake that Keith Gray did as well. I received a catalogue from Gray and Sons and two pieces caught my eye: A ten carat lab created Oval not well cut Citrine ring in yellow gold for $1,600 and a 12 carat plus Tanzanite not gem color with one carat plus of Si diamonds in 18kyg at I believe $12,000 at $12,000. Now I understand! In my humble opinion you purchase very low and sell high! I just received the new catalogue from Gray and Sons referring to pagees with pearl and diamond rings one ring in particular18kyg dated design dull pearl out ou round 15mm. 2.22cts. average diamonds suggested twtail$9,000 selling $6,800 a dull dead looking pearl. Keith Gray looked at two large south seaa pearls with ideal cut diamonds in plt and 18k I sent him and he said my asking prices at $2,800 and $3,400 were retail! Come on Keith you are the low ball king. Just read a current review a negative one regarding many people will not buy a Rolex without box and papers if you look at you own inventory for sale in your current Catalogue the majority of your Rolex watches are sold without box and paper, come on you have to be kidding! Be sureand see Keith Gray if you are selling any type of jewelry, watches, silver,or gold Last because you will see howlow his offers are I made the made the mistake and seeing Keith Gray first and wasted my time by being offered low ball offers which I rejected. Keith Grays offers on the jewelry I sent him were the lowest ball offers I have ever seen in 45 years of business as a GG,5 time AGTA Cutting Edge Gemstone winner in Division One,and a consultant for many years for JCK providing photos of my gemstones for publication. Keith Gray is arrogant, condescending, and makes no sense in what he says. All I can tell you see him LAST so you can laugh at his low ball offers and sell to the highest offer to the previous buyers that made offers before Keith! The difference in offers will open your eyes on how this business works and look at what he is selling his jewelry for and you will see...
Read moreBackground: I'm a licensed Precious Metals Dealer and owner of shops in multiple states. I deal with all sorts of jewelry, bullion/coins, even luxury items (i.e. Gucci, Rolex, etc.) I buy & sell at my establishments.
Synopsis: I inquired about about selling a product to them that was certified and evaluated before contacting them. Initially after receiving a satisfying quote, I promptly shipped the product on my own not using the shipping box they provide for free. After they received it, I was informed that it had to be certified again by another company (even tho I already provided certification from a different well known company). Which I was not informed about in the emails/phone calls. But miscommunication happens. Ok.
Then I was told by an employee that they would not be purchasing it because of "x" reasons. Which I was stunned as I thought everything was fine as told via email/phone. But every business has the right to refuse purchase/service. They even offered me a $50 check for my shipment fees to them even though I only paid around $40 which is IMO is unheard of in my experience.
At this point I was very concerned and worried it was some type of scam. I was more then wrong.
Later the same day, Rich called me, and apologized. He offered to make a deal for the misunderstanding for the original quoted price.
The deal was fair for me, as my return was more then what I put in and the item can be sold for a good small profit on the stores end. So win win on both sides. I'm extremely pleased with this company and I HIGHLY recommend this establishment.
10/10 and will do business with them again.
This is THE shop you go to to buy and sell luxury jewelry, and bullion/coins. A perfect example of a well oil machine as they say.
Appreciate the business and Best regards to your company.
Notes:
I will be honest (as I always am with my reviews). Not the best price I was quoted compared to other companies BUT the other companies were consignment and as I was already sitting on the product for a long time already, this was the best choice in my experience with these type of situations. And I'm extremely happy I made this choice.
Its important to explore options when selling bullion, coins, and jewelry. Do research and make sure the company is legitimate because these "cash for gold" websites (not stores) have been known to take your product and run. After get quotes from multiple companies and make sure its a legitimate company. But I wanted it sold as soon as possible, as I've been sitting on the product for a while and wanted to free up shelve space. But I will say I'm extremely happy with the price They gave me. It was exactly in the range I was expecting!
And I will say I'm impressed with the management on how they went above and beyond to solve an issue when he totally didn't have to! He could of left the deal as is and shipped the item back. He had nothing to lose. But he did it anyways which is a prime example of a good manager or owner of a company. Customer service is a big part of running a business and this guy knows how to do it. So does his employee's. Wonderful employees and wonderful experience all around.
Sure miscommunication at first but it was on both ends not just the shops. So I cannot solely blame the shop. It wouldn't be fair.
I will do more business with this company again when that time comes if they are ever interested.
Thanks again and I really appreciate the...
Read moreIf you are in the market for a great deal on a great watch and want world class service, look no further than Viktoria at Gray and Sons.
Spending your hard earned money on an expensive watch can be a stressful experience. I myself have had some watch deals go wrong, so when you find someone that understands the type of service you expect to get, without having to spell it out, they stand out in a crowd. I recently purchased my first watch from Viktoria and Gray and Sons; a Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine. Not a cheap investment, but not the most expensive either. At the same time, I purchased an IWC from a shop in Canada. I made the purchases within two days of each other. The watch I bought from Canada, which was supposed to be new, turned out to be used and in bad shape. It was a complete nightmare of a purchase and I had to dispute the charge on my card to get my money back. The Ulysse Nardin I purchased from Viktoria, however, was perfect. I mean PERFECT. Not only did I get a great price, but Viktoria handled the transaction with grace and true professionalism, as you would hope to get from someone when spending that kind of money.
That was in October. When it came time to add the next watch to my collection, rather than go to the previous places and look around, hoping to find someone that might work with me in the manner I would like, I went straight back to Viktoria. This time, I traded in a Zenith I had that was not to my liking, for another Zenith, an El Primero Captain. Once again, Viktoria handled the transaction with the grace and professionalism I hoped for. Everything went smoothly; as smooth as fine silk. The new Zenith is perfect, she even sets the time and date so when you open the box and see your new watch for the first time, you can slide it on to your wrist and immediately enjoy it. That doesn’t take a huge amount of effort, but it one of the fine little details that makes working with Viktoria a true pleasure.
In the future, I will be working with Viktoria and Gray and Sons exclusively. Why look elsewhere when you have found the best? Whether I am buying another watch or jewelry for my wife, Viktoria will get the first call. Thank you so much for taking such...
