I know. I know. It’s cliche, but Ground Shaker Coffee Bar is such a breath of fresh air; a definite welcome addition to the lacking coffee scene in Surprise. Don’t get me wrong there are a couple great shops nearby, but my experience here today was nothing but awesome. Walking in I knew instantly they’ve already made a great impression on many. There were many groups of people inside enjoying their coffee and food items. What was once Sunsational Coffee, Ground Shaker has taken over. The entire location has been remodeled inside and it is amazing. One of the great things they’ve kept is the drive through option. Talking with the barista she said they bought out the previous shop, left a lot of the menu, but again the vibe and decor is a thousand times better. It gives off more of a downtown coffee shop, but still with a small town feel. In my opinion it is what has been needed here for so long. There is bar seating, casual comfy chairs, as well as larger tables for groups. Large windows bring in great lighting and had me feeling right at home. Pricing is good for what you get and drinks go up to XL. They offer a lot of breakfast items as well as lunch wraps. Service was wonderful and they were keeping up well with the large rush this Saturday morning. I asked a few questions before finalizing my order. I was pleased to hear they offer so many more assorted drinks than what is on the visual menu. I chose an iced white chocolate peppermint mocha this morning, an iced vanilla latte, a bagel with cream cheese and a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with egg, bacon and sausage. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. I really enjoyed that the added flavor didn’t overpower the actual coffee. The coffee was great and just the caffeine bump I needed for a long day of sports with the kids. All in all I can’t wait to come back. I can see myself spending some...

My family and I stopped by GroundShaker Coffee Bar for the first time on a Sunday afternoon, and we were seriously impressed. This location has been home to a couple of coffee shops over the years, but this is by far the best version we've experienced.
It wasn’t too busy, and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. The staff greeted us right away, and when I mentioned it was our first time, they gave us space to check out the menu while staying close enough to answer questions. That was a really thoughtful touch.
We tried a few different drinks:
I had the cold brew, straight up. It was bold, full-bodied, and just awesome.
My wife ordered the Blueberry Cobbler latte special. It actually smelled and tasted like blueberry and wasn’t overly sweet, which is rare for these types of drinks.
Our daughter went with The Ex-Girlfriend, and she said it was fabulous. The caramel, hazelnut, and toasted marshmallow flavors really came through.
They have a fun list of latte specials (I’ve posted a picture), and I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with anything on it.
I can't speak for the food, but based on what other customers received while we were there, I would rate it at a five. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked fresh, well-portioned, and delicious.
The atmosphere is great with music playing, indoor and outdoor seating, and even a drive-thru. The pricing is very reasonable too, which we appreciated.
This is a refreshing change from the corporate coffee spots around Surprise. We’ll definitely be back and hope they continue to thrive in this location.

Read moreGroundShaker Coffee Shop is one of my favorite local spots — the aesthetic and vibe are absolutely on point. It’s the kind of place that feels thoughtfully curated, cozy, and inviting whether you’re stopping in or using the drive-thru (which is a huge bonus for convenience!).
One of the things I really appreciate is their use of local honey — not only is it a nice touch for drinks, but it’s also great for allergies. I believe the owner actually harvests the honey themselves, which adds a personal and sustainable touch I love supporting.
The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic — fresh, satisfying, and a perfect start to the morning. Whether I'm craving a hot coffee or something iced, the quality is consistently good across the board.
If I had to note one downside, it's that the staff experience can vary. Most visits, we’ve had great service from kind, knowledgeable baristas. Other times, the staff felt a bit inexperienced or less engaged — likely just younger team members still learning the ropes. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means, but something worth mentioning.
Overall, GroundShaker is a gem. Between the thoughtful ingredients, great coffee and food, and welcoming atmosphere, it's a place I keep coming back to — and...
