Surprise Pho is just down the street from me. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'm wondering , why I have not done it sooner! A hidden gem! Looks like it family run and I do believe they speak Vietnamese too. I ordered the Shrimp Pho (soup), Spring rolls and Thai iced tea. The Shrimp Pho soup was fantastic all natural ingredients as if they were picked from a garden hidden outside, a bit spicy but not too spicy. It was served with a side tray of bean sprouts, sliced jalapenos and a few lime wedges. I've hear that Vietnamese cuisine is a bit spicy but I threw in a slice of jalapeno anyways, some sprouts and a squeeze of lime. Wow! Yummy-ville! If I had a grandma from the orient I'm sure she'd be serving me this. Very filling and light in taste you can enjoy each ingredient by itself. Perfectly balanced. The spring rolls were huge! They might as well been mini burritos. They were transparent and again very fresh! Soft and also filling. You can actually taste the simple nature that gives us this wonderful food. Especially when you dip them in the peanut sauce. Damn! Enjoying new tastes is always exciting. I'm sure my taste buds are loving what I give em. If your a tea lover and are in search of a new tea, I suggest trying the Thai tea. It has a flavor all on its own. Delicious when served cold, perfect for the warm city of Phoenix. I love enjoying this tea. I've had it many times before at a Thai restraunt years before. Loved it the first time I tasted it. I am heading back to this place again. They have a nice menu and I can't wait to try them. It's a bit different that Chinese food in a simple way to put it, the fresh, natural taste to each ingredient is wonderful all by themselves. But when they are all combined, elegant and a wonderful memory. Each time I taste beautiful food like this I'm reminded to try new flavors. I suggest you try this place with something familiar at first. Read the ingredients and imagine what they taste combined. I do this when trying new dishes restraints and then order..Though there is always the nice surprise of just asking what the waiter or waitresses favorite dish is. A lovely gem in Surprise, especially for the holidays. Definitely unexpected, but quite enjoyable! You won't be...
Read moreportions are small and food is very average for Viet food (which I have eaten in many cities across the US i.e.) DC, NYC, VA, multiple places in CA etc. The sauces they give you for the food are also obviously heavily diluted and the price is expensive for Viet food especially considering the very mediocre quality and small portion size. I was literally given 3 smallish shrimp on my noodles with very dilute sauce to accompany it. The menu said there would be roasted peanuts and there was literally TWO on my plate LOL. Considering Vietnamese noodles are cheap and vermicelli platters are usually inexpensive I was very disappointed when I got my small platter and was still hungry when I left. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee, which I usually love. The good thing is that the coffee was strong. Again, the amount was so pathetic for 3.00 it was comical. The man literally took out a cup from the refrigerator that already had ONE INCH of coffee(so it wasn't fresh) in the to-go plastic cup and then proceeded to add as much ice as he could fit until the cup was completely full of ice. Thats right, I paid 3.00 (before tax) for an entire cup of ice and a couple sips of coffee that wasn't even freshly made. This place is so cheap with their customers its kind of sad and cringe-worthy. I will not be...
Read moreDo yourself a favor an order from somewhere else. I’ve been a customer for sometime and have enjoyed it quite a bit and even recommended it to friends. I ordered online as I do most of the time and pick it up at the restaurant. Difference this time is I placed two separate orders. I picked it up and went back to work, gave my co worker her order and realized mine was missing the meat, noodles and veggies. So I called them to explain and she hung up on me. I drove back with the food she did give me untouched (broth) and explained I was missing part of it. She started yelling at me telling me saying she did give me the noodles and veggies. Then she started yelling at her husband and then the husband yelled at me (in front of customers) others around me understood what I was saying and agreed the lady wasn’t understanding me but it went beyond not understanding because she proceeded to ignore me. I told her I was a regular customer and I wouldn’t have driven back to steal veggies and noodles. I walked out and left her the soup I had paid for on the counter and never ate. Bottom line, I had to call my bank to dispute the charge and get my money back and I will NEVER go there again. It was humiliating and embarrassing. They shouldn’t run a business if they’re gonna treat descent honest people...
