Came a few days ago for the first time with my nephew and liked the atmosphere so I came back yesterday and got a coffee to drink while studying. I came again today and wanted to wait about 20 minutes until I ordered to get settled but the person I was with wanted to order right away so I went with them while they placed the order. When asked what I wanted (on my friend’s tab and not even on a new one) I said no thank you. In response, the cashier very rudely told me that they forgot to tell me yesterday that both parties have to buy something if we wanted to “take up space” and “use their electricity”. I tried to explain that I wanted to buy something later but he kept repeating that they are a business and everyone needed to purchase something. Despite being the one to purchase something the day before, the cashier felt it was appropriate to rudely say this to me when I came with a different person than the one involved in the “incident”. It wouldn’t have been an issue if there was a sign posted about this “policy” or even if it was said differently but it left such a bad taste in my mouth we left quickly afterwards, but not before still debating if I should buy something before leaving, as I didn’t not want to “take up space” without spending anything. However after that interaction, I didn’t feel comfortable enough talking to the cashier and promptly left. I’ve been to many cafes where this wasn’t an issue but I understand different places have different policies and if this was explained to me with the original person the cashier was mentioning, I would not have felt THIS uncomfortable. I love supporting small family owned businesses and trying different cafes, especially to study at and meet with friends, but this interaction made me feel too uncomfortable to return a fourth time. Another point to add, I have been a barista for almost 3 years and have never heard or experienced such an interaction as this and it’s a shame that this interaction tainted my previous experiences at this establishment.
Edit: Thank you for responding so promptly for apologizing for the lack of customer service. I appreciate a business who remembers their customers but as I have stated it was my third trip to this cafe when the interaction occurred. This means that you are referring to the second visit in which I stated I got one coffee. You say that we used the Wifi, either of us used the WiFi when we were present. I also stated that no where was a policy posted that a minimum number of drinks that we had to order and had this been explained to us when we were seated it would not have been an issue. Also are the drinks brought in referring to personal reusable water bottles? Because that was the only drinks we brought in. Again, if this was explained to us it would not have been an issue and we would have put them away. Furthermore in my last point I have been a barista for the past 3 years, a supervisor to be specific and the interaction I experienced was not one that I would label as “professional” or “nice”. My review explained the situation and was still respectful, despite not feeling that my treatment was on par to what I received. The name calling is honestly very apparent and mirrors the treatment I received today. I was not nasty in my review and only explained my experience. If you think this is a bad experience than please try to put yourself in the customers shoes. If...
Read moreI’ve been to other Vincent bakeries with excellent service but this bakery has poor customer service.
On our first visit my friends and I came here after lunch for coffee and dessert when we asked for plates to share our pastries the owner didn’t give us any plates however he gave other customers plates. We thought he was being ageist or didn’t appreciate we didn’t buy more than 3 coffees and three pastries for 5 people.
Last Friday, the second time we came, I personally asked for hot water in my own small 6 oz. portable cup because last time the coffee was very strong and bitter. Instead of giving me 6 ounces of hot water, the younger guy told me that he would make the coffee light. And the older lady said hot water would be $1!!
In my opinion, this is poor customer service. If the customer asks for hot water, you can’t charge them $1 for hot water. I even asked to speak to the manager because in GA or anywhere in the U.S. no restaurant cannot charge you for tapwater it’s supposed to be like the fountain no one can charge you unless they’re giving you a disposable cup.
She refused to give me hot water unless I paid a dollar! This is the second time I had bad service so my friend said we will leave. I will never go back to this particular café because the service is repeatedly and consistently poor.
So we went to Cafe Bean, where the coffee was very good, they even have a carafe for hot water and the pastries were...
