Most people leave a review for 2 reasons: 1. The place was amazing with great customer service or 2. The place completely failed at everything! My review for this restaurant falls into category 2. We drove from Maryville to Sweetwater to take care of some business. It was around dinner time and we were starving. We happened to see this restaurant and wanted to dine in. We get to the door only to see a note taped to the glass saying carry out only due to Covid. Every restaurant is open in Tennessee except this one. I was still in a great mood so we decided to buy the food to go. We would just eat it in the car. We weren't greeted by the young woman when we came in. No hi or these are our specials today. No how are you? Nothing! She just asked "are you picking up"? We said no we wanted to place an order. She walked away and called some guy up front to take our order. We quickly placed our order and waited for our food. They had some unique art on the wall so I asked if they lit up. She said yep and continued to ignore me. Not even a smile, or let me show you, nothing/nada! Whatever the reason, the lady was rude and unpleasant and had a sullen look on her face the whole time. She took everyone's order that came in except ours (remember she called someone up to wait on us instead). I have no idea why she had an attitude towards us because it was our first (and LAST) time there. We finally got our food and went to the car to eat. Everything was leaking out of the bag in the short time it took us to get to our car. This restaurant should do what other Chinese restaurants do, use styrofoam containers for saucy food. I opened my container that was supposed to be orange chicken only to find what looked like 2 day old, deep fried chicken fingers, drier than a bone. There was a bowl of something that smelled like sweet and sour sauce. I grabbed both and went back inside the restaurant. The guy told me they serve the orange sauce on the side. Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting! The orange sauce needs to cook into the chicken. Orange chicken is always spicy too. Theirs was neither orange, spicy, or fresh. The fried rice is also a joke. I need to contact "Uncle Roger" on YouTube so he can review this place. Fried rice should be brown in color not yellow. I'm German and Swedish and "I" could whip up a better fried rice than this. The crab rangoon lacked any sweetness at all. When I brought my food back the sullen lady called the guy back up front still refusing to wait on me. He offered a different dish to try instead. I agreed, since we had already paid. I went out to my car to wait. My boyfriend suggested we just leave, because they would probably use the same, disgusting, 2 day old chicken to make the next dish. I agreed that "yes" they probably would. We left and never picked up the replacement. I would have to say this was my worst restaurant experience to date. If you love sullen, rude servers, and disgusting old food this place is for you. NOTE: they had a tract about Jesus in plain view. You will definitely not "feel" or get the love of Jesus at this place! I'm praying for them but I most certainly...
Read moreDo not bother. Find somewhere else to eat. When we walked in at lunch time and the place was totally empty, we should have walked out. However, I have eaten at Chinese restaurants that do most of their business as carry out so I wasn't overly concerned. That was not the case here. I don't know how they are staying open as we were the only customers the whole time we were there. We ordered off the lunch menu. We both got hot and sour soup. It was the least flavorful hot and sour soup that we have ever had. It wasn't terrible, just not flavorful. I ordered cashew chicken. The cook "forgot" to add any cashews. When I told the waitress that there were no cashews in my food she went to the kitchen, came back with a small dish of them and apologized. The other thing that was strange was that it had a sweet taste. I have never, ever had sweet cashew chicken. My husband got the sesame chicken and he said it was just ok. The fried rice was also extremely bland with just the very smallest bits of added vegetables. The eggrolls consisted almost entirely of the wrapper; there was practically no filling. I actually cut mine open length-wise to see what was inside because I couldn't taste anything. There was a very, very small amount of cabbage and an even smaller amount of meat. All in all it was very, very unsatisfying and we left wondering if we would be sick later on. Luckily we did not have any illness later on, but I would not...
Read moreOn the evening of June 29, 2018 my wife and I purchased a take out meal from China East. The following day was my birthday and as a minor treat she got me Chinese food. Except she didn't. It wasn't food, let alone Chinese. It was bloody awful. The worst Chinese meal ever. And I've had a few. I ordered Szechuan scallop. It was mostly bell pepper (3/4). The "scallop" was shark cut out, NOT scallop. The Won Ton soup was barely flavoured water let alone soup; the won tons were unfilled noodle wrappers and that was it. My wife ordered sweet and sour chicken. No real idea what was going on there. It was dry and a sugar festival. We also made sure it came with rice, "fried rice" they said: erm ... scrambling an egg into badly steamed rice is not fried rice. Apart from the bell pepper and the sweet and sweet (yes) sauce, the whole experience was flavour deficient, not even salt could be detected. But then again it was my own fault, the clues were there. The restaurant was empty, the dying fish in the fish tank were just being allowed to die, despite my mentioning it. I had practically beg for take out cutlery (how do you eat "soup" with the provided "spork") AND the normally free, in every other Chinese restaurant on this earth! They were charging for fortune cookies!?! If I could give this sh**hole minus stars I would. Disappointed does not convey anything like my depth of anger. I hope you go out of...
