Located in the corner of a small plaza on Flagler Street; a little hard to spot if you're not looking right. Parking is easy to find, but this little gem might draw in enough customers that parking may become harder to find.
We had stumbled onto King Duck Chinese BBQ by chance when we were in the mood for some Crispy Pork. This mom and pop restaurant, despite having opened recently in July, did not disappoint. They have everything from Crispy BBQ Pork to roasted Duck. They also have Pig's Ear, and Xu Mai made in house as well. We made off with a pound of Crispy Pork and 2 orders of Xiu Mai (1 order = 4 Xiu Mai), all of which were reasonably priced. While waiting for our order to be cut, we noticed that the roasted duck look extremely juicy and everything seemed to be expertly made. The Honey BBQ pork looked tender and the wings were sizable. The menu also had a few lunch combinations (rice and veggies additions) that looked very appetizing as well. The owners mentioned that they are using a family recipe that has upholded their family restaurant for 30 years in China.
Since we ordered as take out, we were super worried our Crispy Pork would not be crispy when we got home, but boy were we wrong. The pork skin was still crispy as ever with the right balance of fat and meat, even 4 hours after arriving home. The Xiu Mai were also delicious; the owner had added corn to the traditional Xiu Mai which made the texture a little different but altogether very enjoyable.
Overall, we would definitely return when our BBQ cravings hits us, and maybe next time we can try some of the juicy duck.
Things to note: they accept...
Read moreKing Duck Chinese has long been on my list but I have held on off coming since I had heard some mixed reviews from friends. I have to say that my experience here with my boyfriend turned that around! I came on a weekday shortly after they had opened. For Chinese meat delis like this, I always try to get there early so that I can eat/take home everything after its been freshly made.
My boyfriend and I started with the marinated chicken wings and feet. The flavors were great and I loved it but my boyfriend disliked it since it was served chilled. For the barbecue meats we decided to each get a two meat combo to share so we could try a little of everything. We tried the roast duck, the spare ribs, the white chicken and the roast pork. Its served with vegetables and white rice that you can upgrade to fried rice for an additional price. My boyfriend got the fried rice which was good though I preferred the white since it could make the meal overbearingly heavy. All the meats were delicious but I have to highly recommend the chicken as something you may not think to order there. It's steamed and sooooooo moist with hints of a floral flavor---DELICIOUS.
Probably will be back soon to pick up my mom a whole duck since they offer...
Read moreIn the search of the best Chinese food in Miami I stumbled across King Duck Chinese BBQ. When you hear about “hole in the wall” restaurants you don’t think they are quite literally holes in the wall or do you? At least I didn’t, so when I arrived at King Duck achínese BBQ and saw no door, 1 single high top table with 2 chairs outside, a little window on a glass wall my inner Anthony Bourdain (rip!) knew this could have “huge hit” potential. Won’t lie, I was hesitant at first, but I was here on a mission. To my surprise, almost all of the items I ordered were impressively good. If you’re looking for tasty, fast, great portions of Chinese take out this is your sign to check out King Duck Chinese BBQ! Their menu varies from authentic Cantonese food to more “Americanized” Chinese food, suitable for all tasting palates. I tried their Spare Ribs in BBQ Sauce (9.5/10, SO SO GOOD! Juicy, meaty, sticky, messy, DELICIOUSNESS), Spring Rolls (7/10), Crab Rangoons (8.5/10, MUST TRY!), Special Fried Rice (7/10), Chicken Lo Mein (4/10), Lychee Fruit Tea (6.5/10), and Taro...
