El Jinete - Mexican Food - Tacos - Bar — Restaurant in Sycamore Township

El Jinete is a great Mexican restaurant. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated quickly. The server was very friendly and quick to get us our drinks. Watch out, the frozen margaritas really pack a punch! There's several sizes of margarita so you don't HAVE to buy a giant drink, which is nice. We ordered fajitas to share (2ppl) and were given the option of flour or corn tortillas. Chips and salsa were available to snack on while we waited. When the food arrived it was a huge portion, so much so that after we ate our fill, there was enough for lunch for both of us the next day. This place is super clean, super friendly and really good food. This is the perfect date night, birthday dinner or even family dinner location. I've brought my children here during the day for a lunch meeting and the waitresses talked to the kids making sure they were happy. First off, not all restaurants have a lunch menu any more, so I was happy to see one here. The red salsa that was provided with the fresh chips was excellent. Not hot, not burning but tangy and tasty. I appreciate that it was not made with too much cilantro or over whelmed with onions.

The lunch portion was generous and we all had leftovers to take home. This is always a plus. I had the Carnitas, which was fresh and tender. The rice, beans and salad were sizable and yummy. When your order comes with tortillas, sometimes they only give you three. Not here, we all got five each! The second time we came, I had a burrito. Again, great with plenty to take home for a second meal. Others had the grilled chicken and fish. A portion of the grilled chicken was a bit dry, but that would be our only complaint from both experiences.

I really have to stop coming here on Friday's. This place gets packed because when they are on the food is really good. The problem is it takes forever to be seated. The servers really do not communicate with you all that well at the front desk either. Most of the time we are a minute or so from walking out of the restaurant it is so bad, I do see people leaving most of the time waiting. I will say on the opposite end there are usually a ton of people waiting at the desk to pay their​ bill too, this is confusing because you usually pay your server at the table. Then once you order you usually wait another 30 minutes to an hour to get your food no joke. I have noticed the quality of the food coming down a little bit too lately.
