Cute neighborhood coffee shop in T-Town off N 21st Street. Street parking available. I visited a hair salon off the same street. During my wait time. I decided to walk around and noticed the coffee shop in the corner of a building. I decided to check it out to grab a hot drink as it was a cold day. First impression, it's a pretty good size. Nice furniture and minimalistic decor. There's a comfy sofa to relax on. The ambiance is nice and felt very comfortable. My visit here was year Jan 2020 pre-pandemic time. I ordered the chai tea $3.60 and almond croissant (don't recall the price). They both were delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the croissant (was a little hungry LOL!) Overall great first experience. I would return when back in/near location.

I was on Google searching for a cute coffee shop to visit and Lander Coffee popped up and it was close to where I was. Going inside Lander, it was really quiet, awkward and there was no music playing. The fellow who took my order seemed nice. I made my order and took a seat waiting for my hot cup of coffee. The Barista called out my name and drink order. After picking up the coffee and drinking it… it was by far the most distasteful, bitter and milked down coffee that I’ve ever tried. It didn’t taste like coffee and there was no honey flavoring (I ordered a half sweet honey latte). For the first time, it was a 2/10. I will give this coffee shop the benefit of the doubt and go once more for (hopefully), a better coffee experience. To be Continued!

The community is turning out in large numbers to support this excellent coffee house with the right blend of well pulled shots, simple & satisfying nibbles, space for kids and atmosphere with just enough energy to work & visit without being overwhelming. My fandom was secured by their pastry case, which features the South Sound's best bakery: Olympia's Left Bank Patisserie. If you are into French Pastries, these are the real deal...and Lander is always well stocked with a small selection of Kouign Amanns and the like. What I love - it's packed in here, but there's always parking in front. Why? Because this is a true neighborhood coffee house & the patrons walk here. Welcome Lander Coffee - We are thrilled you've joined our neighborhood!!

Lander is my absolute favorite shop in Tacoma and probably Washington in general. The owners are so warm and welcoming and that energy definitely emanates throughout the shop. They currently just have a little walk-up window for your coffee and pastry needs, but when the seating area opens up again you’re sure to enjoy it! The decor is, in my non professional opinion, very southwest meets mid century modern meets slightly minimalist (think pampas grass, terracotta, clean lines, muted neutrals and sage green...oh and house plants, love the house plants). It’s stylized and aesthetically pleasing while remaining cozy and inviting. The windows are large and let in lots of natural light, and the seating allows for both group and individual occasions. So if you want to (post COVID) get coffee with your weekly knitting group, or just work/study by yourself (or with a friend) you have the option to do either! There’s even a space for all the local moms and dads to gather while their kiddos play with toys. Now the drinks; they have a fine selection of quality, sustainably sourced options. They recently started serving some of their own, in house roasted beans, which are very delightful. They have a handful of teas to choose from (lavender is my personal favorite), and an absolutely fabulous chai (nice and spicy without being too much, you can even add a little honey or vanilla if you prefer a sweeter option). Oh, and the food!...the pastries, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches are divine so you’ll never leave hungry. Overall just a phenomenal coffee shop that truly cares about the people they serve and quality of their products. I personally appreciate the precautions they’re taking due to COVID and caring about the safety of their staff and customers. It’s nice knowing that the places I support care about the things I do and are just generally good people. I can’t wait for Lander to open they’re seating back up (when it’s safe to do so), it’ll be great to see some familiar faces again. In the meantime, stop by the walk-up window, enjoy a warm cup of coffee, buy some beans for your home roasting endeavors...oh, and maybe pick up a nice gift card for those upcoming holiday and birthday presents!

Ps. Hands down, bar none, they have the BEST oat...

When I need to escape the hustle and bustle of Seattle coffee shops I come here to relax. I went here countless times while living in Tacoma and I never had a bad experience. The staff is consistently friendly, the coffee is solid, and there are some tasty food options. They're a micro-roaster so they offer some retail in-house roasts that range from $16-$21 for 12oz (love to see affordable quality coffee). This time around I ordered their Los Dos Socios Guatemala on espresso which was very well balanced and the sausage egg breakfast sandwich which was neither dry nor bland. The seating options were mostly full since people have gone back to school and need a place to study, and even though there are a ton of seats I wish there were more comfy couches to relax on. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if ur craving good coffee, good food, or just need a place to get...
