ANTHEM Coffee & Tea | Old Town — Restaurant in Tacoma

Every time I’ve come the service has been incredibly slow and the person ringing me up seems confused about my order. I try to order a 12 or 16 ounce nitro cold brew but they only serve 10 ounces because they feel “it’s bad for your health to have that much caffeine.” But they will allow you to add as many espresso shots your drink as you’d like. Make sense, right? I didn’t know anthem was staffed by doctors. I can make my own health decisions, thank you. Yes, I get it has approximately 300mg of caffeine, but so would a quad shot americano, which is what I usually get. Turns out I do educate myself about what I ingest.

The barista overcharged me by $7.50 and it took me coming back to the counter three times for her to finally refund me, which she was very short and rude about due to the fact I had to correct her so many times.

And finally, after over 20 minutes for them to heat up a breadstick with cheese on it, I left to get my screaming kids in the car (get why I need caffeine now?). The only (sort of) saving grace to this terrible experience was that the barista was kind enough to bring me our food.

We love Anthem coffee. Our whole family gathers her on Sunday and we just hangout for hours. It is such a welcoming place. They have a app that allows you to order via your smartphone and it seems to work quite well. 20% off on the first order i think. The coffee is great and the staff are very friendly. I believe they use DCR and offer a very traditional style coffee. I think its on the dark side but people but I have always preferred lighter roasts. We were actually fortunate enough to win one of the contest they put on and were given a $230 gift card! The atmosphere here is great and being so well placed near the park and waterfront you can't go wrong stopping here before walking on Ruston or taking the kids to the playground. The food options are wonderful and on Sundays they have some all day special on a food item or two. We got some the taquitos today and they were wonderful. The dipping sauce has a great flavor also. I live in old town and just started going to this coffee shop. I want to love it so much because they have all my favorite things and the few times I have been there, have had good experiences. The barista that was working today ruined that. I questioned my drink because it wasn't the same as I have gotten before at this shop. She immediately responded to me rudely with a smirk and treated me like I was wrong! I have patience, things happen and orders get messed up. What I won't tolerate is rude customer service.
