My now husband I got married on 6/27 and held our Welcome Happy Hour at the Spanish Bar on 6/26. Choosing to work with Elks Temple was a no-brainer. Everyone that I spoke to and worked with along the way was a true professional. This was a welcome breath of fresh air compared to other venues we engaged with along the way. From day one until the end of our welcome event, it was clear that everyone at Elks Temple truly cared about the guest experience. This impacted me from the start, but by the day of the event, I was truly blown away.
I worked, specifically, with Lacey at the Spanish Bar. And I simply don't have enough good things to say. She went to bat to find a way to host our event (since events are not typically hosted.) Chef Milly was also wonderful, figuring out ways to accommodate different menu items for the size of our group.
On the day of our event, though, I (the bride) received a call about my dog. He had become seriously ill and I was an hour late to the welcome. Since we live out of state, I was largely on the phone with the sitter, even after we arrived. It was absolutely the most awful and contradictory of situations but Lacey was just incredible. She didn't hesitate to get me a drink (thank god). And she took over the timing of getting a toast rolling to keep guests engaged. I was too preoccupied to do this myself and she 100% saved the day. More than that, though, I could tell I had a friend that was supporting not just an event we worked to put together, but me at a very conflicting time. Her support and ability to manage all the things was and is simply priceless.
If that were not enough, the setup was just beautiful. To think that this was a special accommodation made it even that much more memorable. All of our guests couldn't stop raving about the service, food, drinks, view (even on a cloudy day) and the venue as a whole. When a little drizzle began to fall-nobody cared!
As for the bride (yeah, that's me), I could not have asked for a better experience. Well, aside from the whole doggie emergency bit. I simply hope I can pay it forward, if even through a slightly long-winded review.
Thanks Lacey and the incredible crew who pitched in at the Spanish Bar. We were so lucky to get to work with you all. Thank you for the wonderful experience and memories! It is all so...
Read moreThis was our 1st time hearing & eating @ this place. Our adult dtr treated us to dinner after the Downtown Tac Street Fair (8/27/22). There is a lg garden area outside & I assume they grow their own produce. The main door places you on the 4th floor. The stairs or elevator are to the right to access additional floors that each have their own exp & food options. At some point you need to see the layout, artistry & wall decor on the various levels. It's an 'old school' vibe w/ added mystique. There's also a 'secret bar' which is added intrigue (our dtr showed us the hidden access door). We sat outside on the patio w/ a great staircase to exit from once done eating. The service was great as well as the view. We ordered a charcuterie platter, veggie burger & beef burger each w/ fries. The burgers were tasty & juicy while the fries were cooked to perfect crispness. Our server offered a sampling of a couple beers since they have various IPA's to choose from. The 2 different lavender mixed drink options were tasty & added to our patio dining exp.
I'd highly recommend McMenamins Spanish Bar for not only their food but their overall...
Read moreWe stopped by for a quick bite on our way to the zoo lights. While the service and atmosphere were great, I cannot in good conscience recommend the food. Meals are priced around $20–$30, but the quality is absolutely unacceptable. I ordered a cheeseburger, and my boyfriend ordered the Caprese Grilled Chicken—both of which ended up being the only things we ate all day. Unfortunately, what should have been a fun evening turned into a nightmare. Shortly after eating, my boyfriend began experiencing severe food poisoning. He was violently throwing up in the bathroom for an extended period, suffering from unbearable stomach pain, and feeling absolutely terrible. To her credit, our waitress was amazing and incredibly understanding. Once she realized what was happening, she immediately comped the chicken dish. While her kindness and professionalism were appreciated, it doesn’t change the fact that this experience was beyond disappointing. I wish we could have walked away with a good impression and become returning customers, but I will never recommend this...
