$400 hair appointment for an uneven dye job with high-damage EDIT: but then a complimentary revision appointment that resulted in a better final product but still nowhere close to what I was asking for. price listed above is inclusive of tax, haircut, tip, consultation, and hair dying I recovered from alopecia and I was so excited to get my hair done again for the first time in a long time. I went from a place where I was afraid to brush it (because clumps would fall out) to a place where I could dye it because it had grown back and was strong enough. I attached the "after" results I experienced. The photo with the girl in the gray shirt is the reference photo I came in with. I am honestly shocked because what I got is just super super uneven and nowhere near the reference photo (I know it will never be spot on, but it's nowhere in the ballpark). Kaelie(the stylist) bleached dark brown hair to white just to make it a few shades lighter than my natural hair color. Is this normal? I am not a hair professional but it seems like a crazy amount of damage to still end up with hair way darker than what I wanted. I can't believe I drove an hour, I sat in the chair for 4 hours, and paid 400 dollars for this. I really regret tipping at all. **************************************************************** REVIEW UPDATE: The salon reached out to me and said they would fix my hair for me. It made me feel like they actually care about doing a quality job and maintaining a good relationship with their clients. I am very grateful that the salon offered to fix it and did not just leave me hanging or force me to go back to the same stylist for the revision. I am certain that some salons would not care. However, the final result is nowhere near what color / style I was trying to approach (See photo with blue colored over my face). My next stylist was super nice but I will not go back to this salon.

I asked for a shag mullet, gave my hair stylist a Pinterest board and then she just went in and starting chopping all of my front hair off. In my head I was thinking trust the process but it took about 10 minutes to realize that she was giving me the ugliest 80's trailer park mullet. When I specifically asked for a SHAG mullet. I have curly hair and she used a layering razor that absolutely destroyed my hair making my hair flat and dull on the top of my head. I started crying in the chair. She asked if I was okay and I told her yes because I didn't know how to tell her she made me feel so ugly and gave me one of the worst cut I have ever gotten from someone professionally. I told her I wasn't going to style my hair the way she was styling it and she asked rudely to see the Pinterest board again. She told me she was just following what I wanted. Then she rushed to dry my hair burning my scalp because her next client was in. I had high hopes going to Union salon because of the aesthetic and reviews and all the good things that talked about the place. I walked in a couple of days before my appointment asking who gives the best shag mullets and the front desk lady recommended my hair stylist. On top of the horrible experience, the ruining of my confidence What I thought would be a $55 haircut turned out to be a 80$ even after I was crying.

I honestly don't know where to start. I've been going to this salon for about 2 years I think. Let me say this is long over due. This place is absolutely amazing. I have worked with two hairstylist here and they both truly made me happy. Krystal was very sweet and awesome. Helping me figure out what I wanted and styling to perfection. I felt absolutely terrible tho because she was soo good that her price went up. Which I as understanding!! Like the value of the haircut and style is worth price you pay! I just unfortunately being the broke college student I am could not longer afford her. She was sweet understanding and said it was okay to move to stylist that was within my budget. Thats when I met mirela!! God did I fell in love with her immediately. She so was so upbeat and happy. I enjoyed the conversation with her and her work was also pretty amazing. Even being tad bit over budget still but wouldn't trade a dime leaving this salon. Its very up beat and very open. Everyone is so kind and welcoming! I have never once left the salon upset.

I have been going to Union Salon for years! Krystal is my usual hair stylist (she’s amazing!) but yesterday I saw Kelly. Kelly is also amazing and we had great conversation the whole 5 hours she was going my hair. I came in wanting to get the red out of my hair and match my hair to some hair extensions I had brought in. Kelly did a great job with getting all the red out of my hair and matching the extensions to the top half of my hair. The bottom half, however, toned too cool and does not match the extensions at all. I paid $540 for the service, and I called back asking what to do in this instance (but they were closed today). I was told they have a 1-2 week period for any corrections. I got my hair done because I’m going on a cruise this next week, hopefully they get back to me! Other than this slight hiccup I love this salon, I love the aesthetic and I love the people that work there.

Update: I was called back and asked to send pictures of my hair and the extensions. I sent pictures and they called back saying there was nothing they could do and essentially blamed it on me. I would not have said yes to having my hair bleached had they told me in the first place that they could not match my extensions to my hair. I would have just asked for all over color that could have been closer to the requested outcome. It really breaks my heart to leave a review like this after going to this salon for so long but I am really upset. I have been very kind and understanding and was not even offered the words sorry.

Update 2: I was directly contacted by the store owner after seeing this review who was very kind and helped me understand the situation. Ultimately, I shouldn’t have been told that it might not match the extensions in the first place. She offered to fix it but with my schedule I could not fit it in, and I did not want to put more chemicals in my hair so soon. Like I said before I love this salon and the people and I am happy that they reached out to try to rectify the situation and will be returning.

Update 3: changing my review to 5 stars because I love my girl Krystal....
