I went here today at noon and had an awful, dehumanizing experience. Due to needing a scooter and no room for it in the dining area I sat and had it taken outside. Totally was fine with this, but that meant I HAD to sit somewhere and couldn’t get up on my own. At this time there was one person in line ahead of my husband, one women waiting for a to go, and two open tables. Four open by the time I was told to leave. After sitting 3min I was asked by the owners husband to get up because I had not ordered yet and that was their policy. I explained my husband was next in line (no one behind him) that he was ordering and I couldn’t stand right now.. showing him my two broken legs. I was told well it’s first come you can’t sit here. You can stand in line or go outside. I again said ok I just can’t stand i needed my scooter and I’d go. My husband overheard and came over and said he was in line but he would grab it. He was again I needed to go outside he could order us a Togo. My husband got my scooter and we went outside. I was shaken and sad and chose to leave.
Keep in mind As this was happening four tables were open for people to sit, it’s a seat yourself place, and no one was waiting for a table (or obviously they would just go sit in one of the other four empty right?). I wrote a review on a private local mom’s page sharing that if you have a disability I would rethink this location and my experience. The owner and her sister attacked me called me a liar had multiple people lie and claimed they had been there and I’d caused a scene. I literally said two sentences tops and left. No scene, I was too embarrassed and shocked to cause a scene. However the actual customers who were there all came to my car to check on me. The owner has no empathy for others and repeatedly lied about why I was asked to go outside instead of admitting it was hurtful. First they responded that they never promised to be ada disability friendly, then they claimed they never asked me to go outside, then 11 people were waiting and I was taking the table. Just lie after lie instead of saying hey our policies are order and then sit, but we see you have someone ordering and we can’t fit your scooter so sure maybe sitting makes sense! Restaurants make mistakes and what happened at the restaurant was awful.. but attacking me, calling me a liar, and making up stories of what happened to make me seem crazy for being hurt, that’s disgusting. I had no intention of writing a public review.. but after being Attacked, harassed and Lied about for sharing my bad experience it is necessary. This is despicable business and you don’t deserve customers if you can’t be honest and try to do better when you severely mistreated one. Because whether you can admit it or not you did. I don’t recommend this place due to the ownership’s lack of empathy, respect for customers needs, and integrity when...
Read moreUPDATE3: 2/9/2024... I finally sent the email and I have to say I'm beyond appreciative of the prompt response from Hailey. She responded immediately to my email and stayed true the offer in the original response. Side Piece Kitchen went above and beyond. They comped the full breakfast(which I did not expect but truly appreciated) and EVERYTHING was on point. The sizzrup still did what it should, which was be delicious.
I tried the fruity pebble cheesecake and they put in another slice of the banana pudding cheesecake(round 2), and both are delicious. My brother got the pineapple upside down cheesecake and he said it was on point. He also got the sizzrup and he said " we can do this every Friday!" and that the sandwich was so good he had to take a break to let his food settle because he was eating it too fast. He said yall have a new customer.
My nephew finished off my sandwich and he loved it also.
Again, Thank You!

I finally got to try this place out. This is my review.
THE GOOD: I got the sizzrup sandwich and it was delightful. Bigger than expected and freshly made. Only critique is that the eggs needed seasoning. A little salt and pepper goes a long way with eggs. The service was pretty good also, got greeted at the counter and got my food within a reasonable time.
THE NOT SO GOOD: I was really looking forward to trying the cheesecakes. I got one of the banana pudding slices and one of the strawberry shortcake slices. I was disappointed in both. The portions were generous and they looked good. However, the cheesecake portion of the banana pudding slices was over salted. I let others try it to be sure it wasn't just me and they wholeheartedly agreed. The strawberry shortcake was absolutely flavorless. No hint of strawberry flavor, or any other flavor, at all. Not even the strawberries on top added much. I'm not sure if the strawberry shortcake label was applied because of the visual aspect but it definitely didn't taste like looked. And considering that the cheesecake slices at this place cost more than an average slice of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory, I was really expecting great flavor.
CURRENT RATING: overall, this is a nice breakfast sandwich spot for me. I'll definitely be back to get the sizzrup but I think I'll get my cheesecakes elsewhere.
UPDATE: the owner responded to my review promptly, which I appreciate. However, I don't see an email address to send an email. Nice gesture none the less.
UPDATE #2: An email address was added so I'll eventually shoot the owner an email and see...
Read moreI'm torn about how to write this review and I'm going to give it another shot but for now, here we go. The three stars is purely for the food. The service was warm and friendly with just a hint of sass which for me is perfect! The atmosphere is fun, crazy, almost dive bar meets kitchy, meets retro. The mimosa I had while waiting was proper strong and delicious! Food came out reasonably fast considering how busy they were (line out the door and packed space) That's where the good ends. Now for the ok. Seating is EXTREMELY limited. Not their fault, but I hadn't planned on taking my food to go. I live 40 minutes away and this isn't really the style of food that holds up well to travel if you want the best experience. Also, no utensils (edit as owner responded below saying there was on the counter. I went back in and looked and only saw metal utensils but must have missed the disposable, so my fault there), so car eating was out for me. I got the Stoner SOS because I absolutely love a good set of biscuits and gravy. I tried the bacon before I drove off and that was my first disappointment. It was chewy instead of crisp. As a former chef I know how hard it is to get thick cut bacon to be nice and crispy. You damn well need to burn it! I totally get opting for going a bit underdone to keep the visual presentation nice, but not the way I would have preferred it. When I finally got home I was able to dig into the rest. Now, I was and am completely aware that things were going to get soggy, and am not knocking any points for that after an almost hour drive (traffic was ridiculous) and the food was still warm. My issues were that the Mama's aoili, pickles jalapenos, and pickled onions absolutely overpowered everything. All I could really taste was sour with a hint of the gravy coming through. I went a couple bites this way to make sure I didn't just get a bad spot, but nope. FYI, I LOVE sour and pickled things. Not when it's overpowering everything else though. So after removing the jalapenos and onions it was much better but still underwhelming considering the praise this place gets. I was expecting (I know, my fault) mouth blowing, almost orgasmic, tongue slapping your brains out delicious. What I got was just good, but not great. This is all taking into account giving quite a bit of slack considering the drive. I'm willing to give the place another chance as maybe I just picked the entire wrong thing, but I don't know if I'll go out of my way for it. Will happily change my review if it turns out I just...
