I feel compelled to give a poor review. In my opinion, Bamboo Wok is the absolute worst Chinese food in the city of Tallahassee. The Kung Po Chicken was finely diced breaded, deep fried, not stir fried. It is not supposed to be breaded. The peanuts were not cooked with the food. They simply sprinkled them on the top. Most places put whole dried chili peppers in, they used graded. It neither smelled nor tasted like Kung Po Chicken. The rice was simply colored. It didn't look or taste like fried rice. They obviously avoided the correct cooking process and took short cuts in the preparation of this food.
You can tell a good Chinese / Asian Fusion restaurant by the number of repeat Asian patrons. I doubt many, if at all, any Asians return here. These meals appeared to be prepared with 0 pride in the culture. After the food sat in the car for a few minutes, I noticed the only thing I could smell was stale oil. I doubt they change the oil in their deep fat frier enough. This was absolute garbage. I didn't even keep it. I threw it out once home.
For authentic Chinese food, go to Blossom Kitchen on Tennessee St. If you want authentic Chinese and some American Chinese foods, go to Flavor Treasure on Tennessee and Ocala. There is usually a long wait, a limited menu, and seating. Jiust order take out prior to going to FT.
If you want Chinese food with a pleasant atmosphere, Chinese, go to either Masa on North Monroe or Dao Restaurant off Bannerman. Azu Lucie Ho's off Appalachee is good, depending on who is cooking that day. I have rarely been disappointed in the places...
Read moreI'm going to say I like this place, flaws and all. Very pleasant staff and the place was clean-no old oil smells, which is a nice change from many takeout places. Also, a Chinese takeout that serves hot, crispy fries is a nice bonus! Okay, the food. The inner eggroll was fine. There was just something about the wrapper that took away from the overall enjoyment for me. In this time of premade and packaged, it's something that I need to get over, I guess. I'm going to give the vegetable moo shu a thumbs up except for one thing; no black fungus. Moo shu is all about the fungus, so none is a major flaw. Otherwise, the flavor was nice and the vegetables weren't over cooked. Like the eggroll wrapper, the pancakes were straight from the bag, but that seems to be the norm here in Florida. I miss northern cities, where they were paper thin and served steamed. All in all, a nice, clean place that properly...
Read moreAs a paying coustomer I expect to be servered with a smile and unwavering curtsey. But this was not the case at this establishment. The man whom I perseved to be the owner was constitently wiping his nose with his hands while taking my order. I politely reminded him to wash his hands prior to tee tearing the cooking area. As I ordered I mentioned I wanted my entree separated. And suddenly a loud No! No! Rang from the back of the kitchen. I again explained that I wanted my meal to be separated into two different containers for my own personal reasons. Once again a NO!No ! Rang from the back of the kitchen. And then the owner preceded to tell me he could not allow me to do so. Disgusted, disappointed, and appualled by the lack of coustmer service and...
