Canopy Road Café — Restaurant in Tallahassee

Honest Review! Average for Tallahassee. Food is good but average for price range. (Definitly Better than Waffle House at same price). A bit less traditional than advertising as American Style Diner.

Not really a pratical experiece, but honestly, about average for Tallahassee, We (2 people) ate at Cracker Barrel the week before for Breakfast for almost identical price. Breakfast was better and Service was great.

Owners are NY'er so Souther style should not be expected. Some twist on menu, looked good. The Feta cheese on the Avocado Toast made the dish (but needed Tomatoes on side). But overall, no standard Beakfast plates offered on menu as expected with exception to Special which was best deal. .... Special (2 eggs, toast grits) is $5. Add meat $3 Drinks are $3 but you'll need to chase waitress for refill.

Why its not a 4 Star:

...Most of menu is kinda yuppy (again normal for Tallahassee) Needed a Tradional Breakfast listing on menu (since the state they are American Style Diner).

...RAP/ Hip Hop music was playing (rather loud from kitchen). It appeared the music was for staff and not the customers since I was few younger people in there and one young lady was dancing in kitchen.

...Waitress only returned to give check. Never got my coffee refilled.

Just an FYI if you have family in town. They turned away a group of 10 saying they do not take over 8 in a party. Also, Not very good parking at this location (why we ate at Cracker Barrel the week before-No Parking)

Tallahassee really needs a Southern breakfast nook style resteraunt kinda like you find in Mid Florida. I had great hopes this would be better given the reviews. But all things considered, if you want a good breakfast in Tallahassee at this time, you'll get a more tradional one at Cracker Barrel for about the same. If you want a Twist to your Breakfast, you may like this one. Food was well prepared and served. Hope they get other items mentioned...

Dear Canopy Road Cafe Management,

I am writing to express my concerns about the conditions I recently encountered at your Monroe location. While the food served at Canopy Road Cafe was commendable, the level of cleanliness and professional conduct fell significantly short of acceptable standards, impacting the overall dining experience.

Upon my visit, I observed ceiling fans caked with a thick layer of dust and air conditioning ducts that appeared to be infested with mold. These are not just unsightly, but also pose potential health risks, as they directly affect the air quality and hygiene of the dining area. It is imperative for the health and safety of your patrons that these issues are addressed with the utmost urgency.

Moreover, the response to our polite feedback about these issues was met with surprising disrespect and a dismissive attitude from the manager on duty. In which was informed that I have been suffering from mold poisoning as well as my brother, Dilan James Rice. They way we were treated was unprofessional and unwarranted. Such behavior from a member of your management team is not only disappointing but also discourages patronage.

We had expected that bringing these matters to your attention would be met with a professional and constructive response, given the otherwise enjoyable aspects of your establishment. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

We hope that this letter serves as a constructive criticism aimed at improving the dining experience at Canopy Road Cafe. We believe that attention to these matters will not only benefit your patrons but also enhance the reputation and ambiance of your restaurant.

This place is a Two across the board. The Drake looking greeter/ server (hopefully for Tallahassee's sake he is not the owner) he is the worst...his demeanor when you walk in.... is like he doesn't want you to be there... It was consistent with each guest. He has no smile either... No one wants to deal with a "Squidward attitude" when Paying for Breakfast the first meal of Memorial Day weekend.... And what's with the Burnt raw bacon , just throw the whole short order staff Away.... I understand this may be fine dining in Tallahassee but the staff will soon make sure that is not the case. The French toast wasn't good the Churo waffle was doughy in the middle and half constructed when they served it. All I wanted was the vanilla glaze on the side so it came with just the caramel glaze no whip cream and half cooked.

The upcharge of $5 for that raw burnt bacon was atrocious and get this THR BACON WAS COLD, like grease sitting on it Cold... What the Yuck??!

My friends French toast was still there when we left this just was bad spot to stop Sorry Tallahassee this aint it......

Every thing the same scorched color that's just bad cooking and lazy food tending. Lower the prices if this will continue it's easier to deal with.
