El Jalisco Kerry Forest Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Tallahassee

When El Jalisco's on Kerry Forest first opened, the food was great and the out door seating was comfortable and fun. I don't know what happened in the last 4 to 6 months but the food had gone down hill rapidly. Went for a birthday in May. Service was poor, waitstaff seemed harassed and we did not received refills on our drinks. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp (Shrimp Diablo or some such) and the shrimp tasted foul. Cooked, frozen and then reheated somehow with the spices. Nasty. Still, everyone is entitled to an off night. The last two times have been take out. First the order was screwed up and the chicken tenders for the children's meal looked like a chicken patty that had been breaded, sliced and then re cooked in a saute pan. Not fresh breaded chicken! This last time was it. Ordered pick up, the cheese, which was on everything, tasted sour. The beans seemed sour as well. One of our party ran for the restroom before she had finished her meal. It did not stay down. The flan was from a MIX!! The salsa was majority large chunks of onion with tomato pit's. Roughly $57.00 worth of food went into the bin.

Save your money and your stomachs. Try someplace else.

Come here all the time, but for a special occasion this time. Party of 15 booked ahead for a farewell co-worker lunch (for me). Showed up and room not ready. Wouldn't seat us until 9 of our party showed up. No menus on table. No water on table. No chips and salsa on table. I mention this because it would have made our server's life much easier. Here's the best part....we were given ONE server for a party of 15!!!!! Who does that???? One guy taking drink orders. Same one guy taking food orders, running food, getting refills, etc. Then we asked for the checks as soon as food arrived. He didn't bring them until we asked for them a second time. I was the guest of honor and got my food dead last. My husband (sitting next to me) ate super slow so as not to finish his entire meal before I got mine. Then only ONE guy to run all the credit cards. What a fiasco. My coworkers were late getting back to work by 30 minutes and faced disciplinary action. We looked forward to eating here because of the reviews and a recommendation from a local family member, but our experience was less than good. If you have food allergies, BE CAREFUL. I specifically ordered my burrito non-spicy and with no cheese or sour cream. She repeated it back to me but the burrito arrived slathered in cheese and so filled with Jalapeno's I cut it open and dug out a few pieces of chicken, but couldn't eat the rest. My wife and sister-in-law ordered Margarita's, one with salt and one with sugar on the rim. Both came with nothing on the rim. My daughter and brother-in-law ordered street tacos with "chicken and cheese only" and they came with no cheese, buried in onions and cilantro, and the meat was so dry like it had been left out under a heat lamp for too long. For once, my wife's meal was perfect! Usually her order is what gets messed up. We don't live here so it won't be a problem for us to not come back, but they need to make some serious changes before someone has an allergic reaction because they didn't pay attention...
