I decided to try Emerald Garden because of all the great reviews. I won't return though.The staff was super friendly. However, I HATED the fact that I ordered Lobster fried rice and got a box FULL of imitation crab meat, w/ 2 tiny bite size pieces of lobster in it. When I first opened my rice and noticed the crab meat, I went back inside and told them I ordered LOBSTER fried rice. I was told it comes with the crab meat too. This needs to be noted somewhere on the menu or at least TOLD when someone places an order. I HATE imitation crab meat, but was in too big of a hurry to make a big fuss or have them redo it. Like most Chinese restaurants in Tallahassee, you tend to get a lot of food for the price, but the flavor and food quality is unremarkable. There are no 5-star Chinese places in this town. They wouldn't last here. And darned few merit 4 stars. If you don't believe me, eat Chinese food in San Francisco or NYC and compare.

I’ve been ordering at Emerald Garden since they opened. The owner, Phang, is very nice and remembers my order when I call. I don’t even say who I am and she knows it. However, Her husband doesn’t work with me. For instance, I called a lunch special in at 2:45. That’s 15 minutes Before the lunch special ends. When I got there he charged a different price since it was After 3:00 by about 5 minutes. I paid the $3 additional charge. That upset me enough to screen who answers their phone.
