Tasty Eats is Tallahassee's best kept secret. Apart from the selection of beer and ciders, as the name suggests, this place offers a diverse menu of classic Vietnamese dishes and Eastern spins on Western favorites. The best part is they have a wide selection of GLUTEN FREE dishes--safe not just for those who are dieting, but for those with Celiac disease too! The family who owns this restaurant makes you feel like you're a friend who has come over for lunch or dinner, especially if you're under the weather and it's a Friday--the day of the week they make Pho. The flavor is rich and the beef (or chicken) and noodles a plenty; after eating their Pho, no matter how I felt before, I'm a brand new woman after. I've never had a more satisfying bowl of Pho than the one I can get inside the Tasty Eats train car.
As a chef and self-proclaimed foodie, I can't stop myself from eating here at least once a week--and not always on Pho Fridays! I have tried quite a few things on the menu. My favorite dish is the Greek Chicken, paired with Sriracha Tomatoes and Jasmine Rice. The chicken is roasted with a blend of herbs and topped with a Greek yogurt sauce, and the taste is unbeatable--trust me, I've tried on several occasions at home! But no matter what you order for an entree, you HAVE to order their Nutella-raspberry donuts. There is not a single night I don't dream about those fluffy little morsels, and I can't visit Tasty Eats without at least one order!
Although the food is why I come, I stay for the customer service. In Tallahassee, it's so difficult to find a restaurant that knows the real meaning of hospitality, let alone a whole staff of employees who are shining examples of it. My girlfriend has a severe gluten allergy, and the chef always comes out from the kitchen to tell us exactly which dishes are safe to eat and which dishes she's made/can make special just for her. The care and concern of the family makes both of us feel welcome, and like we're a part of their family too.
Everything about this place is above and beyond your average restaurant. The prices are great for the amount of food you get (average entree is about 8$ and I never leave hungry and always have leftovers). I love the owners as much as I love the food and beer! If you're driving through town or a local looking for someplace new, make a decision that you won't regret: head over to railroad square and grab a bite to eat at the Tasty Eats...
Read moreI went on Sunday night around 7:45 pm. I have been before and it's usually ok. This time it was awful. I ordered the spicy beef noodles and it had NO flavor whatsoever and came out luke warm. Bascially it tasted like watery oil. I'm not exaggerating. My guess is it was the end of the night and they just took the dregs of the pot and added warm water. It was so bad I only had a few spoon fulls. I can usually eat just about anything but I just couldn't eat this. I left the restaurant HUNGRY and ended up grabbing a salad to go somewhere else. This was the last time for me. In the last year I've been 4-5 other times and it was ok for the convenience of location (although there was another time when it wasn't very tasty but it was edible). My husband got the pho with all the different types of meat. His was also not very warm and the noodles were stuck together and difficult to eat for this reason. Overall, the pho was better than mine for sure but not nearly as good as other pho places in town. I was just being lazy and didn't want to go to another part of town. I know, I know, Tallahassee is not that big! I get really lazy late on cold evenings but, NEVER AGAIN. I will never cheat on Far East again. It was just not a good experience. Sorry guys. Best of luck, but I'm not going to make the same mistake again. Service is great! The staff is very polite and friendly and the location is awesome. Food just isn't what I've grown...
Read moreSeeing it was a rather cool day today Pho sounded great. The restaurant, Pho Me, was easy to find and parking was convenient. You can tell when you walk into a place and it is full, that’s a good sign. To place your order…. when you walk in you stand at the register, study the menu on the wall, give your order, you are then given a number after which you find a seat you desire to sit at. Not only was the restaurant fairly full but people with to-go orders came in and out almost constantly, another good sign. I ordered the Pho - beef noodle soup (see menu photo for description) and the Gói Cuõn - summer rolls also (see menu photo for description). My pho dish and I assume all, are served with bean sprouts, jalapeño slices and a lime wedge. Both were very good and hit the spot! All the tables are equipped with chopsticks, napkins, hoisin and Sriracha sauce and several soy sauce on the counter near by. I felt the prices were fair (except the tea was a little more than I expected at 5 dollars and some change) but I really wanted to try it so got one to go, and it was fair tasting (I’ve had better, but not bad) and several people were ordering it. I felt that there are plenty of vegetarian and dietary restriction options. They also offer a Pho challenge (see menu) if you brave enough...
