Since I discovered Milanos Bakery when i moved to Tamarac, it has been my go to place for fresh, quality products from Argentina. I always received friendly service, and they are open every day, for many hours. I switched here from La Buenos Aires Bakery in Pembroke Pines, and Grazianos in Weston, simply because there was nothing to miss about them. I have recommended Milanos to friends and family, and now that I am pregnant again, my cravings for their pastries has increased, so I pop in a couple times a week.
With that said, yesterday I was extremely disappointed when visiting this bakery. I walked in with my toddler in arms, and my pregnant belly, at a time when there were more customers than I had encountered in other visits, at other hours of the day. I took a number, as it is requested by the bakery, by the multiple signs they have posted, and since the line was long, I proceeded to walk around and check out some of their items instead of standing in line.. after all, I had my number. Suddenly, I hear one of the employees ask "who's next?" So I approached the counter and asked if they weren't taking numbers, to which she replied, "not really." I told her that I had taken my number, and I hadn't paid attention to the person that had been there before me or anyone that may have arrived after me. She ignored me and continued on. I waited for the next move, and, again, an employee asked who was next. Eventually, a customer who had apparently walked in after me, but who was not in line, told me it should be my turn, and someone in line let me in.
When I was finally served, I, very nicely told the employee, that I found it quite in bad taste to have signs everywhere about taking a number, that I had taken my number, and that I had to guess where my place in line was. She was friendly, but wasn't apologetic. Her response was, "people don't want to take numbers." I told her that I was pregnant, carrying a toddler in my arms, and if someone didn't take a number, they should be made to wait, not I. She proceeded to say that next time, I "should just make the line, and fight for my spot!" The nerve. I was so aggravated by then that I just ordered my stuff and went on my way. In retrospect, I should have walked out empty handed.
Milanos has pleased me with their products, and their location is convenient for me.. but I will soon be returning to the previous bakeries I shopped at if their system and attention to service does...
Read moreI went to pick up pastries and decided to buy 2 packs of tapas for making empanadas at home. When I checked the receipt I saw that I was charged for 3 instead of 2 empanada packs. I called and I was hung up on more than once. I called again and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I noticed that the same person who kept hanging on me me was the person who overcharged me. I came to look at reviews and noticed that Iâm not the only one being charged for things that I did not order or received. The manager didnât seem to care and called it a mistake. I explained that it could be a mistake if it happens one and not at least 6 times. I explained that that is robbery and a crime to steal from people like that. She then said they may have problems with a new system which they are all learning. She asked if I would drive there for a refund and I said I would not drive back for it. She said she would have the general manager contact me for a refund by 3pm. I Will update this review if that happens. There have been other people on here saying they had to call the police regarding refunds. If you will go there check receipt carefully. Personally I prefer Buenos Aires Bakery for better food and much better service!
Update: the cashier who hung up on me was Yancy. Lourdes is the manager who I spoke with and she asked if she could drive to my place to refund. Although I appreciate her trying to refund me I find it awkward for them to drive to me and a little silly. I mentioned other comments that are negative regarding getting charged for items not bought and her response was âwe have a lot of customersâ. âObviously the ones that are not happy will be the ones who post bad reviewsâ in other words they donât really care. As far as my refund for item I hadnât purchased, I explained that Zelle would be fine but apparently they donât do that. Waiting to see if owner will send me a Zelle. Wasting a lot of time on what should be a very simple refund but they claim their system isnât allowing refunds. Maybe time to update system?!
Lurdes called to apologize and said they will be refunding to my credit card and seemed sincere. Said the system is new and I give her credit for following up. I will look and see in a couple of days but she said it will be refunded to card. So I will add a...
Read moreI went there yesterday during my lunch break. And I wish I never did. I waited in the line for about 15 minutes and when it was my turn and the cashier asked for next the short stubby lady behind me started shouting her order. The cashier stopped and said no sheâs next and I before I could give my order this lady started yelling at me that I need To hurry up and make up my mind that I was switching lines (even thought there was Cleary only 1 line). I was in disbelief that 1.she was going off on me 2. The server stopped taking my order 3. Not even the man she was with stopped this lady, all while he was looking down, and the everyone kinda stopped and started staring to see what would happen next. I just looked at her and said if you are THAT hungry go ahead, and I left. This was a horrible experience, granted that it was not the staff but the way the bakery is set it lends itself to issues like this. If you are standing in line you are constantly getting bumped by the staff and patrons bc the line IS in the way. You should have more than 1 person attending the line so things like this dont happen, maybe even a number system like supermarkets use. I went back to work hungry and sad that this is the world we live in, some desperate to eat others waiting for a show and the in between a who just wanted to eat lunch during their...
