Girl and grill Appearance-b The building itself is a very old building.....but the current tenant of it did not let it stop her from making it her own.....the time she took to make it reflect her spirit and her personality is authentic and should not be overlooked
Ambiance-A
Theres a vibe as soon as you step in to this take out provision palace. Music bumping....employees moving and working...tge owner manning the grill with control and authority....oh you get since that they are serious about what they do..and it helps set the tone.
Appearance of food-B Food looks good at first glance......the attention to toast the inside of my croissant is appreciated.....the smoke sausage and eggs looked well cooked....the grits when you can pick them up with a fork...but still have a creamy and smooth texture to them....the only set back is the cheese on the grits and eggs....I wish the cheese could have scrambled into the eggs and grits to really have them served already incorporated. Once they melt on top its difficult to mix them in fully.
Taste-c+ Eggs were cooked properly, once again the cheese not being mixed into them didn't really make them feel like cheese eggs. The grits hat a good amount of butter in them, they were creamy and well cooked. Once again had the cheese been mixed into the grits rather than just placed on top...a different flavor would have been experienced. The croissant was toasted great...nice crispy edges and buttery goodness. And the smoked sausage was cooked almost perfect.
Price-b 2 eggs, grits both with cheese, sausage smoked and croissant for 11 bucks..not bad at all
Overall-b+ For simple ingredients cooked really well in the morning...I can see why this place has as many cars and people inside waiting for their grub. Everyone has a great attitude and they know who they are cooking for. I look forward to returning here whenever Im on this...
Read moreTHIS IS THE BEST QUICK BREAKFAST SPOT IN TAMPA! I went in today for a second time and never have I felt so warm and welcome by the love that bursts from this place. The owner is vibrant and brimming with pride for her restaurant, staff, and customers. The staff are super helpful and also, they just make you feel valid and important. Yall have no idea how good it feels to be called a king after a long week of not feeling appreciated, and when the owner reads this i hope she understands how much her and her staffs positivity can effect people, and has made my mornings start the mental posotivity. Everytime I've come into this restaurant I've felt nothing but joy and family. This place is a perfect example of tampa culture and the community i grew up in, this place feels like home. That being said the food is amazing. I like to call it mental health food, cause after the first bite you wanna smile and dance. First time I went I got shrimp and grits and it's so great to eat grits COOKED RIGHT and not soupy and blandlike usual breakfast spots. Second time I got the croissant sandwich and it was so delicious and filling. The lady in front of me had ticket# 69 and after her and the staff had a good laugh the owner hugged her and gave her a free specialty custom koolaid drink they make in house (be prepared for the sugar rush and they go perfect for a summer day on your bike). That drink was a thank you from them to her just for making them laugh and having a happy moment together, and the smile on the customers face im sure she carried with her all day. This is the type of business where I wanna spend my money. This is the type of business I want representing my community. Girl and a grill IS tampa and yall got a spot in my heart now. Thank you,...
Read moreAfter a drive from Lakeland, Fl on my way to work In Tampa, I decided to get off my route to my usual dependable breakfast stop, Mambo’s Cafe. Pulled over and googled breakfast near me and headed towards Girl and a Grill. Got there 20 minutes before opening time and read the reviews and menu and prepared myself for a treat. At 6AM the place opened and I went to the door to see a person looking at me from inside cutting onions. I looked and wave until the person decided to come and open the walk up window. As the person opened the window he/she immediately said, “I am only doing bowls!”. I was befuddled, baffled and perturbed at the statement from the person. Keeping my composure after making an effort to have breakfast and deciding to patronize this restaurant because of the reviews I read, I decided to just shake my head, turn and walk away disappointed. I’m a 6’1, 240 pound alpha male and the tiny question rolling in my mind about the statement given to me by the employee, with no good morning salute was, what is a bowl of whatever going to do for me to start my day? I had my mind set on the 2 eggs, 2 meats, grits, pancakes and a container of green koolade(yeah that’s how we spelled it back in the day) 😂 If I’m correct the same ingredients the person wanted to give me a bowl of could have made the big boy breakfast platter I was anticipating ordering. Sorry 1 Girl, I didn’t get to experience your grill but the initial encounter I received from your employee should be addressed as a teachable moment to them so they can uphold your successful business expectations . Great...
