Went to Jeni’s yesterday for dessert! We first came across Jeni’s when we were in Chicago and were really bummed that they didn’t have any locations in FL.

But that has changed now since Jeni’s have two locations in florida! This one is right across the street from Armature Works and the other location is in Sarasota

They are known for their amazing ice cream selection and their ‘thinking outside the box’ flavors. This location has their staple flavors but not as much as specialty flavors as the ones we had in Southport Chicago.

We went for the trio with dark chocolate truffle, brandied banana brûlée, and honey vanilla bean. Honey vanilla is a great choice if you want something light and not too heavy. Dark chocolate truffle is really good as well because it is very intense and rich in chocolate. However we both fell in love with brandied banana brûlée because it still have a lot of flavor but not as rich as the chocolate.

We hope they roll out with more specialty flavors in the future! You can also bring the pint sizes home with you from their shop or at your local grocery store...

This is not the first Jeni’s we have been to and I can assure you that we have loved our experiences at other locations, but not this one. First of all, the dining area is not open, yet all other restaurants allow you to eat inside, social distance and wear a mask. Second my husbands ice cream was melting all over him before we even walked out the door and looked like soup in the container, and third I had to walk back inside just to throw all of our garbage out since they do not have an outside garbage. I pleasantly recommended that since their dining room is closed it would be helpful to have an outside garbage for customer convenience. The manager (I believe) was very rude and responded with “we have one inside, not outside and we don’t provide that”. I’m not sure exactly why she would have responded that way, but I can ASSURE you I will never return and will ensure anytime my friends or family are in the area they head straight into armature works to Astro Craft Ice Cream where they will get amazing ice cream, amazing lservice and get to enjoy their ice...
