Bob Gilbertson Central City Family YMCA — Local services in Tampa

I’ve been going through an overall lifestyle change and the online course I am taking through the Y has been a big help so far. This hasn’t been easy, but knowing that I have my instructor’s and my colleagues’ support has been reassuring!

I finally decided to visit this particular Y and take advantage of my 4 month trial membership. I did not have a great first impression of the front desk staff. I was already anxious going in because I’ve gotten comfortable with my routine at the gym closer to me but I wanted to get outside of my comfort zone and attend the 6:30 PM Zumba class. I didn’t feel welcome when I approached the front desk. I felt like I was being treated as though I was a nuisance.

As a well known institution that provides so many wonderful resources and opportunities for the people of Tampa - every Y center should always be welcoming, accepting and kind to every single person that walks through their doors (especially if they’re trying to gain more members!!)

Tony was the most unprofessional employee I’ve ever dealt with while coming to this YMCA. I’ve been to this ymca since I was 6 and never have I been treated so poorly. From first walking in , Tony exemplified this hostile energy towards me and my friend. Asked me “ do you know how this works” when referring to how the guest pass process works. I’m not sure where you guys found him but you need to get rid of him. He was extremely unprofessional, rude, and mean for no reason. If he’s mad at his own insecurities that’s fine, but he has no right to deflect his anger on to me and my friend. It was totally uncalled for. I will be reporting this incident...

Totally not sanitary in the bathrooms they don't keep clean or keep up with the bathrooms just plain disgusting I don't see how this place is still even open i wouldn't recommend this gym to no 1 equipment is the only nice things in their but totally not sanitary at all.*Update im addressing the issue that is been going on for a while which is that this location doesnt keep the restroom clean and is very un sanitary so you know the issue so fix it their is no need to me to call who ever thats your job to fix the issue i been a member for years and im planning to find another gym home that cares about their members health and not just...
