Peterbrooke Chocolatier + Gelato Tampa — Restaurant in Tampa

I've been to this Downtown Tampa Peterbrooke location a good handful of times for gelato for myself and for chocolate gifts for friends/family visiting from out of town. Every time I visit, whether by myself, with family, or with my dog, the staff is always so friendly, helpful, and courteous. My most recent visit was the best and most memorable yet as I was preparing a custom gift basket for some friends in Utah. I visited a few shops around the area to gather some "Tampa goodies" to ship to Utah, and knew I wanted to send some chocolates. I chose Peterbrooke primarily because of the friendly customer service I'd experienced in previous visits and because the company is Florida-based (albeit not based out of Tampa).

My biggest fear was ensuring that the chocolate got to my friends without it melting. They assured me they could freeze wrap the chocolate and everything would be fine. It was fine indeed! The next hurdle was whether I could throw in all the other gifts (not from Peterbrooke) into the same freeze-packed basket. They made a quick call to the general manager just to make sure there weren't any concerns with that, and they made it happen.

I showed up with ribbon, plastic wrapping, and everything I thought I needed to make it look pretty. Turns out I bought the wrong size plastic wrapping, and the ribbon I brought looked ludicrously small for the size of the basket. They offered (at no cost) to provide their own plastic wrapping and ribbon and wrapped everything up for me. That was so kind of them and so not expected.

Super yummy chocolate. YES!! Rainforest approved. YES!! Friendly, knowledgeable and offering lots of free samples. YES!!! I was super excited when I saw the announcement on Instagram( Go follow them) that a new family owned chocolate shop was opening downtown. I am more excited then a kid in a toy store!! Everyone was super excited, Knowledgeable, and the chocolate is purchased from Rainforest Alliance approved farmers. The products are all produced in an eco friendly and sustainable way and all the farmers are paid fairly. Peterbrooke is family owned by people that clearly love chocolate and the community!! Everyone was super friendly, patient and just want you to love their chocolate!!! Which I now do!! In addition to all the fun, creative chocolate, they have chocolate covered popcorn, and gelato. They don't accept returns. Even though we tried to return a closed/never opened box of chocolates several hours after we bought it!! They don't tell you they don't accept returns when you buy anything. Customer service is horrible: when I tried to understand why the returns are not accepted, and tell her I am not happy with this, she just hang up on me! P.S. Not sure what the business owner is trying to imply - both my husband and I tried to return the chocolates. There was no "anger to gift bearer" - what on earth are you talking about?? The box/bag was too plain and small to give as a present to our kid's teacher, so I hoped to return it and get something better instead. Just angry about your horrible customer service! P.P.S.
