I usually like to eat at Waffle House from time to time when I'm in the mood for breakfast. I stopped at 3am on my way home from the casino. Ordered the "All Star Special" & coffee. I asked if I could substitute the waffle for grits? She didn't know but continued with the order so I figured she was going to go with my request. The meal was ok with the exception of the eggs that I ordered over-medium came out very runny. (Whites were undercooked). Also I had ordered a coffee which didn't show up until I asked for it again after the food came. Had to ask for cream & sweeteners as they were not offered. The server never checked on me again. I had to ask the cook for more coffee. Keep in mind there were only a hand full of people there this late at night. So now the server brings the check for $13.16. I gave her my credit card and while she was ringing it up I looked at the menu and realized I was being over-charged. She came back and I told her the all-star breakfast is $8 plus $2 for the coffee. She said she had to charge me separate for the grits. I said I was substituting my waffle for the grits, she said she had to charge for the grits. I said well then give me a waffle since your charging me for it. She kept arguing that when I was ordering I didn't want a waffle and that she would have to change the ticket and it would cost more. I'm telling you this girl is dumber than a box of rocks and not cut out for this job. In a huff she finally tells the cook to make me a waffle. The cook plops it on the counter and starts to walk away, I had to ask for butter. I didn't really eat that much of it because I was already full but figured I should get one since I was being charged for it. I'm proud of myself for not losing my temper because my patients wears thin quickly when dealing with stupid people. I finished what I could eat of the waffle got up and left with no further conversation with the server. She had a horrible attitude. I doubt I'll be back at...
Read moreThis is the newest Waffle House in Tampa, Fl and the food is expected to be good. However, I gave this location a 3 star rating not based on the food because it was delicious. They received this rating based on their awkward customer service and assumptions.
I called in my order and came in to retrieve my food. I was greeted and I was told by Jean (not quite sure of the name- but she worked the 4 am shift) the order had just been placed in a bag. I thought great I will be out of here in no time so I can go home to eat. The reality is I sat there an additional 10 minutes in a not busy restaurant before I was cashed out.
Finally the male worker asked if I've been cashed out and I told him no. He asked Jean for the ticket and was told the ticket hadn't been written up. The male worker and Jean shared quick commentary and chuckles before the ticket was written up and entered on the register. He stated the cost of the order and I acknowledged the amount.
It's been a long time since I've been to a Waffle House so I remained seated near the door waiting for the food and ticket to be brought to me. He looked at me for 2 minutes and then said you want to walk to the register. I gave him this puzzled look and then he stated due to fraud I can't take your money if I'm not near the register. I walked to the register, paid for the order and waited for my receipt which was never provided. I asked for my itemized receipt and instead I received a sheet of paper bolded with the word REPRINT and the cost of 22.57.
I recommend if you don't have patience not to visit this Waffle House. The workers on the 4 am shift are ok & the food is delicious, but they lack the ability to communicate what's happening which leaves the consumer just being idle or eventually mad enough to...
Read moreMy experience at this Waffle House was disappointing. Around 5:20pm I ordered eggs with toast, grits, bacon, and coffee. Unfortunately, the grits were too watery and had a strange, sour taste, as if they had been sitting out for too long—completely inedible. The taste was so bad that it made me feel sick, and I couldn’t even finish my meal.🤢 I think the Health Department should go there.
I also noticed that the cook was cleaning something and then started preparing food without changing gloves, which seemed unhygienic. The floor was dirty, with batter leftovers from waffles. Despite this, I decided to give it a chance because I was hungry, and I’ve had good experiences at other locations of this chain.
In the end, I asked the cashier if they could give me a discount for the grits since they were not edible, but she said that wasn’t possible. I wasn’t expecting a big discount, but I did expect more attention to food quality and cleanliness.
I hope they improve these aspects because Waffle House is usually a good choice for a quick and...
