I went here a week ago as I have enjoyed parts of the restaurant in the past and needed a place to work on my computer. I ordered a burrito and cappuccino. The cappuccino was outstanding, however everything else about my experience fell short of what I expected. When I approached the counter, 2 employees were checking out something on the floor behind the counter. They saw me, but didn't say anything, focused on their task. After a minute, one of them said "just a sec." I made my order when they decided to pull away from their issue, something apparently malfunctioning with a fridge or something. One of them glared at me when I smiled at them, it was strange. When I got my food, it was a balancing act trying not to spill my drink/food while opening the heavy door to get into the restaurant side as I needed a chair without arms and they said they were only available in the dining room. A stranger working on her laptop saw me struggle and helped get the door, something I would hope would be on staff's radar. I took my seat and the frowning/glaring employee walked by again. My default is to smile at people, which sucks, because I was glared at again. So strange. As far as my burrito, it was a bit disappointing. It seemed to be a mashed potato and mushroom wrap with pretty pedestrian seasoning - odd and not my favorite, but not horrible. As I said before, the cappuccino was outstanding.
Several months ago I came here and enjoyed the food with some friends in the main dining room, but I have to admit, even then the service was disappointing. We bought most of the menu that day, And the manager or owner was focusing on the two other tables where beautiful young women were sitting, clearly college students. Us regular women in our thirties and my boyfriend seemed to be a non-priotity, even though we were buying bottles and many plates to share. We were only one of three occupied tables at the time, incredibly empty. The man only said something to us as we were leaving. As a plus sized woman I'm used to this treatment, I just hoped better from this place.
Service is very valuable to me, so this place has been a bit disappointing. It stinks because it's really a...
Read moreI’ll start this review by saying I’ve eaten at Willa’s, the main restaurant, when it first opened and it is amazing. Decor, ambience, service, food - it’s all there. Great new place that is sorely needed in Tampa. So, needless to say, I was excited to finally try their coffee shop next door - Willa’s Provisions.
Walking in, their vibe is pleasant, clean and hopeful. The drink menu is comparable to any neighborhood coffee shop. The food options are a bit sparse. We opted for some of the breakfast tacos and a green juice and lemonade. The food was not what I had hoped for, perhaps expecting it to be as flavorful as Willa’s next door. The tacos came with green sauce which was honestly really good. The juices were fine. The interior is super cute and I assume the layout just needs some tinkering to help the flow. It was dreadfully quiet. There were four customers in the shop, all on laptops… so it felt less like a fun place to grab coffee and more like a silent library. There were four tables and a three stool counter. Unfortunately, one couple felt it appropriate to occupy two tables and six chairs - so, while we were able to grab a table, others were not. (I only mention this to help management figure out how to handle these scenarios because it’s a super cute place and I REALLY want them to be successful).
Anyhow, I imagine that it takes some time to work things out and they’ll get there. A few suggestions: sell the green sauce in grab and go, perhaps limit/have no WiFi times, turn the tacos into burritos because the tortillas are hard to handle how they are now, make one door the main entrance so that it’s more clear where to order upon arrival. All in all, this is still a very cute place and I think they’ll get there in time so it’s definitely worth...
Read moreI live nearby and visit Willa's Provisions literally every day. I've had the tacos, the sandwich, the green juice, myriad types of coffee and tea, and more crullers than I care to publicly admit. I say all this to establish that I am the unparalleled authority on all things Provisions (and Willa's restaurant offering but that's for another review). Now, it's not just the supreme convenience of walking across the street that keeps me going back to Provisions; I return again and again because the staff, the product, and the space are all top notch: The Provisions team members (including but not limited to Dylan, Kel, Jay, and Jazlyn) are welcoming and helpful above and beyond what I expect. The already fantastic King State coffee is made even better by the precision brewing methods employed by the Provisions team. The food is excellent, seriously try a cruller with that latte you ordered. The space was expertly designed and is without rival in the city of Tampa. At this point you've probably stopped reading and are on your way to experience Provisions for yourself but, in the event you're still with me, I want to let you know that they also serve delicious low ABV cocktails in the evenings and on the weekend. This really is a place that you can (and I do) spend entire days, from morning until evening, eating, drinking, and having a great time. Thanks for coming to...
