Wine & Wood — Restaurant in Tampa

My friends and I were super excited to try this place after passing by and hearing great things about it. We went on a Friday night and I called ahead to ask if they had reservations. They do call aheads not reservations which basically doesn’t mean anything. I put a call ahead for 7:30 party of 4. We checked in with the hostess right at 7:30 and were not seated until 9PM. I understand a busy Friday night, but there is really no point in offering call aheads if you’re going to have to wait over and hour for a table anyways.

Once we finally got seated, it took about twenty minutes for anyone to even notice we had sat down. The bar tender had to come over and take our orders because our actual server didn’t even realize we had been seated. Abysmal service aside, the food and wine is fantastic. We ordered apps at the bar while waiting (ravioli and cheese bread) and pizzas for dinner and they were both really flavorful. They also have a nice $10 off bottles of wine special until 8pm which was the only saving grace for the amount of time we had to wait for a table (we had two bottles even before being seated).

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food, but I’d highly recommend going on a less crowded night or earlier in the evening for parties of 4 or more...unless you want to wait an hour + for a...

Best gourmet pizza in Tampa and AMAZING wine selection! Sixteen different kinds of pizza are available as well as cheese boards, salads, and various small plates. The pizzas and the small plates are cooked in wood fired ovens that you can see from the dining area, subtly flavoring the food. My favorites are the green apple and gorgonzola pizza and the wood-roasted buffalo cauliflower. Dozens of wines are available, with twelve on tap. A wine flight is a great way to taste a selection of the on tap wines. They also have high noons and six beers on tap if you don’t like wine. Service is always amazing. The decor is funky, with colored mason jar water glasses matching colored mason jar lights, and various eclectic oddities like a metal dog, a ceramic bust, gnomes, a goose, a disco ball boot, and artistic band posters. Sooo, Wine & Wood was just the spot I was looking for to enjoy some wine and pizza. The atmosphere was lively with beautiful decor, and I loved sitting outside on the lovely patio. Although the wine selection was somewhat limited, the options were still good, and the food was fantastic. Whether you're flying solo, out with friends, or on a date, this is a great spot to unwind. I'll definitely be back to try more!"
