HIDE Yakitori Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamuning Municipality

Good food with reasonable prices, friendly service with an authentic Japanese atmosphere. One of the few places that can offer that type of experience in Guam.

HIDE offers a menu size that normally would cause concern but from the many times I've visited, they are able to keep consistency and standards for the numerous dishes available. I mean come on, this Japanese restaurant has french fries on the menu. But hey, it's actually pretty good. In terms of food, they don't set themselves apart by doing much different from other Japanese restaurants, but they do offer on average better portions. Specifically in their yakitori sticks. Other restaurants that serve yakitori in Guam would give you these anemic pieces of meat and charge you even more for it. Not here! They even have "Mega" sticks because hell, I'm pretty sure they know everyone else is ripping people off with their wimpy yakitori so why not offer more for your money. The prices have gone up since the pandemic, but honestly, whose prices haven't?

So yes, the Japanese food here tastes like Japanese food. It's very typical to have that standard and consistency in Japanese restaurants. The feel and look of HIDE is what makes it special though. It really is like being in a "hole in the wall" restaurant in Tokyo. A bit worse for wear, busy decor...it's charming in its own right. My only complaint is the A/C seems to be undersized for the restaurant resulting in a slightly warm dinning area. Otherwise HIDE would be an easy recommendation if you want yakitori or Japanese food in general. Let's be real here though, it's a yakitori place so you should get the yakitori.....and maybe the...

Great local Yakitore place. Local vibe with authentic Japanese Yakitore flavors!

I ordered combination of Karaage and Angus Short ribs. Both were cooked perfectly. The plating was great! Honestly did not expect the presentation to be done so well, but the chef takes the time to make sure its cooked right AND presented well.

The waitress was very kind, responsive (I didnt have to wait for a single thing), and knew some great recommendations when asked!

I was already feeling uncomfortable when i sat down looking at the menu bc when i had questions for the menu and for the availability, the boss was super aggressive to the servers. it made me upset already with his attitude. When i odered a ROLL it came out without the ingredient listed on the menu. i asked the server and the BOSS had attitude. this picture is what 13.95 worth of roll looks like.
