UPDATE 10-15-19 Time to end my hiatus and give this place another chance, and I'm glad I did. It looks like the owners are back, and I don't know what happened, but something changed it for the better! It's looking, and more importantly, TASTING like its old, better self again. Some things are different (portions, no more pumpkin pie) but those are things not likely to return. Raising rating another star, will see if return visit will be just as good if not better.
Let me start with this place, when it opened, was hands-down the best Korean BBQ restaurant on island. Atmosphere was perfect, food was perfect, portions were perfect, and service time was unbeatably quick. There was simply no other alternative for Korean dining anywhere else, so much so that I brought EVERYONE I knew here, as well as several big parties as well. And the prices couldn't be beat...
Which brings us to where we are today. Some places surprise us so just by being around, even rising above their excellence to bring us more of what we love about food - the atmosphere, a new dish, better hours just to name a few. Sadly, this is not one of those places.
What used to be a good serving of a main dish (Kalbi for example) has noticeably been cut to a fraction of what it used to be. Compound this with the fact that service time is unbearably slow (food to table), and you can see why the tables are not as occupied as before. Even worse is the unapologetic responses from the owners when billed wrongly or when food comes cold. It's better to just get it over with and go on hiatus...
Read moreL.A. Korean BBQ has certainly left a lasting impression on me, especially during our recent visit just an hour before closing. The staff's warm and welcoming attitude made us feel like valued guests, regardless of the late hour.
The food at L.A. Korean BBQ consistently impresses. Each dish is a delightful burst of flavors, leaving your taste buds craving for more. From the perfectly marinated meats to the delectable side dishes, every bite was a culinary delight. And let's not forget the cold, refreshing beer that accompanied our meal; it added that perfect touch to our evening.
What struck me most about this place is its versatility. It's not just ideal for a date night; it's perfect for various occasions. Whether you're bidding farewell to a dear friend or celebrating any special event, L.A. Korean BBQ has the charm to make every visit memorable.
In summary, L.A. Korean BBQ consistently delivers both in terms of hospitality and gastronomy. Their ability to make every guest feel special, even late in the evening, sets them apart. I can't recommend this place enough, and I look forward to returning for more unforgettable dining...
Read moreDisgustingly disappointed. We went there during lunch today. I was excited and got disappointed. In the middle of our meal, I noticed the texture of the kimchi I was eating seems off. In my disbelief, its a tissue paper soaked and mixed in the kimchi plate. We immediately called the staff explaining the situation. She wasnt a help at all. She just stand there saying she will inform the kitchen and took our food (kimchi). Moment passed and no replacement was given. We were confused. My husband then flagged the waitress again asking what happened just for her to say “ I thought you dont want it”. At this point we are stunned. We continue talking just to hear her response saying we are mad. To be honest we are beyond mad. We are disappointed. We are frustrated. I ate a piece of paper your establishment served, mixed with the kimchi. There was no sincere apology at all. Nor a good explanation of what had happened. Very...
