I have travelled around the world and have been to many tourist spots, I I found this hotel as the LEAST flexible and had a no empathy of a woman travelling with kid. Two examples:. We arrived the hotel at 6 am because it was the only direct flight from my city. When I got there, I asked them if early check-in with fee is available. The front desk person, Tony, said not until 10am. To check in now, I had to pay full price for 1 night, which is $220 USD. Well, given that we were tired, ok, I would pay. But he said only Ocean view is available and my regular stay is City View. Therefore I needed to check out at noon and checked back in at 3. What.... Paying $220 for six hours??? Then he said there would be a city view room available but not clean which would not require a re-check in. The room was not clean. I asked if I could hang out in the lobby and checked in at 10am (so I only needed to pay $110). But he said no guaranteed the room would be clean by then. Alright, so this hotel did not like money just like to make his customers unhappy. I asked him if I could get the paper work (check in process) done now and hang out in the hotel, just on the beach with my small tent to rest. He said No. Only lobby is public area. Other part of the hotel is not available to use until I officially checked in at 3 pm. Finally, the only helpful thing this person did was when I asked him if there is a motel nearby, he said Santa Fe..... Rolling my luggage with my 9-year old daughter, we walked over to Santa Fe. It was not as good but the lady checked me in for a room from 6:15 to 3pm for $99.99. Second example: Second night dinner, we went to the Caravel in Basement. (We ate at the Japanese restaurant first night but the sushi fish was not fresh.). I wanted to order a set for $56. My daughter wanted pizza. But they only served pizza in a big Family for 4 dinner. They didn't allow al la carte. My daughter did not want their kids menu ($16) with spaghetti over meat ball. She just wanted cheese sandwich. I asked the waitress to see if they could replace spaghetti with cheese sandwich. She said no. There was absolutely nothing she wanted from the menu. Then I asked her if I could eat my dinner and let her buy the sandwich from this hotel other outlet. She said No. No outside food is allowed. I told her to charge me $16 for the cheese sandwich. She said no. The restaurant was half empty. Again, they did not want your money. They wanted you to go eat two cheese sandwiches at $6 each....
By the way, I also asked if they have one King bed instead of two double beds. The front desk person said they only have double bed room.
So why they still got two stars, the WaterPark and Marine staff was nice. The WaterPark was the best part. Caravel is much better than the Japanese restaurant. I guess if you don't need the support like me, it would be...
Read morefirst of all, I’m sorry for the following negative comments about the “beach” of this hotel. I love the water park, love the hotel and the staffs. but not the beach! ||1. Gas smells all over the pool area in early morning, and around 5pm when they are opening/ closing the Marine Club. |Jet ski and other motors are running around the beach, the smokes are not very healthy for everyone there.||2. Swimming/ snorkeling with fishing hooks and no one cares!|Some people fishes around this beach everyday, yes, everyday!|they don’t care about their fishing hooks while you’re snorkeling/ swimming/ kayaking around them. I tried to tell one of the staff, he told me “I aren’t Beach life guard, go find the beach life guard.” True story! ||3. No beach life guard on duty, I didn’t see one at all. ||4. Bad attitude toward the tourists.|people who works in marine club is running this onward hotel beach, driving jet ski all around the beach in early morning, accelerating their jet ski circling around the whole area to attract people, and slowly move to the jet ski area. ||some of them got bad attitude toward the guests. |(no, take two step back, stay in the line, I don’t like people standing too close to me, get your life vest back before your turn). It’s the rule and I respect that, but with that attitude. and you know how Asian replies, of course all they say was “sorry, sorry sorry”. I don’t think this is healthy. ||4. Don’t stay on the beach and don’t you think you can lie on the beach, play with the sands here. This beach right in front of the hotel is being used by transporting their water activities motors. Tire trails everywhere, if you lied on the beach, you might get ran over by those cars carrying jet ski / and other tools if you don’t watch it carefully. ||Overall, this hotel has bigger room space size compare to those beach hotel near by Tumon bay. Water park is awesome, I liked it very much. |Im so sorry I had to comment on the beach management since it’s called Onward “Beach” Resort. you gotta have a clean, usable beach environment. ||I strongly recommend Onward Beach Resort establish an under cover team to check on marine club staff’s manners toward tourist, and of course they need to hire a team of people who manage the beach better. ||true story, true experience, if you’re aiming for the beach experience, take a step back and read thru all the reviews. If you aim for the water park for your kids and family, this hotel is the dopest place to stay as long as you ask your kids not to walk near the...
Read moreI reserved a corner ocean view room but upon check-in was told that they had upgraded my room to their tower. When I arrived at that room, it overlooked some other roofs of buildings and a pool. This was in no way an upgrade. I called the front desk and told them that I was not happy. They found an ocean/beach view room and moved me. It was not the corner room that I had reserved, but it was okay. |As far as the hotel itself, it is a bit dated and needs some renovations. The AC controls in the room does not give an option to select a temperature. It is merely a push button panel with low/med/high buttons (very dated). The room television was very small (about 32", if that much) and the remote control menu was difficult to navigate. I would have to keep pushing the menu button to get it to finally change from the hotel channel to those of the movie and television channels. The remote control requires some sort of ir device located under the TV to work. It looks like a spy camera, but I used my personal bug/camera detector and decided it was just an ir device for the remote (strange and very dated). |Of the three lobby elevators, only one was working. The elevator that takes you to the basement parking makes strange noises and the panel buttons are damaged. |The aquarium located near the lobby had tons of algae growth and was in dire need of cleaning. The lighting in the aquarium was very dim and in need of repair/replacement. This was not an appealing aesthetic.|When I checked out at 0500 there was nobody working at the front desk. I rang their bell a few times and nobody showed so I left my room key on their counter and proceeded to the airport. |As far as the restaurants, the breakfast buffet was good with several options. The Japanese restaurant Sagano was very nice and the food was great. They obviously have a talented chef there. |The hotel staff for the most part were very nice. It was just the check-in process mentioned above that was very unsatisfactory.|All in all, I will choose a different hotel the next time that...
