I normally am a big El Jinete guy. In fact, their steak is my favorite, but I just had an awful experience that will keep me from going back. The other night, a nice young man who was home from college took our order. When I got home, 1/2 the order was wrong (way wrong). I called back, and he said heâd write down my name and burrito order, and Iâll receive a credit.
I normally wouldnât post a negative review, except I just called to claim my free order, and the manager who was a nice lady when she answered the phone... claimed that there was no record. After giving the name of the young gentleman who helped me (to prove I wasnât lying), she said she couldnât believe me. He had already gone back to college a couple days ago, and thereâs no way to prove that the incident happen. She informed me that in order to get a credit for a messed up order I wouldâve had to come back the same day, otherwise, thereâs no way to prove that I didnât eat the original messed up burrito? I tried to calmly explain that it had onions and pico which I asked for there not to be, so I didnât eat it and enjoy it... she said, âSir I donât know if youâre telling the truth or not.â I kept trying to calmly explain that she could call him to validate my story, and she said, âHeâd have to come in and pay for your order himself. If an employee messes up an order, they have to pay for it.â That shocked me. I honestly didnât know what to say, besides, âReally?â And she said, âYeah sorry I canât help you.â I hung up, and will not visit El...
Read moreThe food wasn't bad. Only taking off stars because of our waitress. The waitress wasn't the friendliest, she didn't greet us or seat us. She guestured with her hands for us to have a seat from her cash register. We waited a few minutes for her to bring us our menus, although she was not busy and was 10 feet away. . . She gave us the menus and expected us to order right then. We asked for a few minutes to review the menu. She brought our food out at different times, which is awkward for a party of 2.... having lunch. We like to eat together, so, I had cold food. She brought flour tortillas instead of corn. Also at different times, as mine came out after he got his dish, then his tortillas came out after I got my tortillas... she literally made 5 trips to bring us our 2 meals. And then had to bring the right tortillas.... of course 2 different times..... instead of grabbing 2 orders while she was back there........
My food was 8.99$ my husband's was 13.99$ and our bill was 30.00 exactly. The bill didn't have the prices listed as the menu does, just scribbles of the 2 plates. And a price at the bottom.
We were over charged by 7 $. We tipped her 5$ and we won't be back. She made an 12 dollar tip on a 23 dollar meal and lost 2 customers, permanently. Anyone asking about this restaurant will be told to eat somewhere else. I do not recommend this restaurant and would prefer for the waitress to be let go untill she can...
Read moreOverall poor experience for our first visit with overpriced food and hidden costs. Atmosphere reminds me of a fast food restaurant. Salsa is brought out in to-go containers and is a pureed liquid that definitely has a slight kick of heat to it. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they came with mushrooms (an odd addition for a Mexican dish, but was listed in the menu description). They came with a plate of rice (very plain), refried beans, lettuce, sour cream, pico, and guacamole. Cheese is an extra charge listed for $2 on the menu. I requested fresh jalapeños be added to the fajitas, but was never told the price for this was a whopping $5 for probably one entire jalapeño added to the dish. I also requested 3 additional flour tortillas which I was not told would be an additional $2 (but much more reasonable than the jalapeño upcharge). I thought overall the food was mediocre, the atmosphere was very cheap and lacking significantly, the wait staff not very enthusiastic, and the hidden extras prices outrageous. I will definitely not be back. There are plenty of other more authentic mexican restaurants to go to in...
