The food was alright, but not spectacular. I ordered a poke bowl and it was very heavy on the rice and light on the toppings and sushi. The rice was very warm and essentially steam cooked what should have been raw salmon. So the salmon had a weird half cooked half raw texture going on. But with that said, the food was fresh and I was definitely full from all that rice. It’s an acceptable alternative if you’re desperately craving sushi and no other places are open. Personally I think neighboring areas like Englewood and Tenafly have better sushi spots. Even the sushi buffet in Teaneck is a little better (and that’s saying a lot). If you have traveled to Japan and are expecting traditionally/authentically prepared sushi... just... don’t. Like dude, it’s Jersey, stop it.
Lastly, when I placed my order via DoorDash the restaurant has a different name as “Poke Central” and I couldn’t find anything online for this restaurant so I thought, “huh, maybe they are new?” However, when my food arrived the packaging said Rock N’ Roll Sushi and when I looked them up, I learned that this is a kosher restaurant (which is cool with me). The point is I have no knowledge in how that preparation may or may not impact how sushi is made and for all I know, this is “fantastic” kosher sushi. I really don’t know enough to say otherwise. So my review is purely on the food itself without knowing much about the regulations and what qualifies it as “good”...
Read moreWhen i found this place on google, i was actually looking forward eating their food. I ordered their udon and a specialty roll. Delivery took around 50 minutes and when i opened the bags i saw the udon in the soup. Not surprisingly, the noodles were soggy and it even turned into the color of the broth. I tried to eat it, but couldnt even eat a 1/4 of it. Onto to the roll, it was bland. But the bigger issue was with random bits of hard rice. Who knows, maybe it was undercooked or just old rice. After 3-4 pieces, I stopped eating it for obvious reasons. I trashed the food that cost over $30 with delivery fees. I rarely call the stores for complaints, but decided to do let them know nicely. They were apologetic and issued a partial refund of around $4-$5. I reluctantly asked for a full credit, not a refund since i couldnt even eat the food much. Also, because i wanted to give it another try. But a refund of $5? I have no clue what thats about. The udon alone...
Read moreI could tell when I first saw it that it's one of these "new hip" places that hasn't been in town that long and caters to a certain younger naive uncritical crowd. But it was open late and I wanted sushi/Japanese, so I dumbly came in. Either they need to control the level of noise/number of patrons dining in or they need to learn how to listen better since they mistook my salmon teriyaki (with potatoes?? who does that?? How is that Japanese?? They don't know much about food either) entree for a salmon roll of some kind. They're also expensive, more expensive than they should be. But that's par for the course at these kinds of places. Place is run by young people who don't have much idea what they're doing. Counter girl/server is unfriendly and slightly rude. Gave me a bit of attitude when I asked about a refund. I didn't bother to get anything in the end and thankfully I don't see a charge on my bank account. There will not be a next time. Too bad, cause it's kosher and...
