Basil Boys — Restaurant in Tecumseh

This is the best pizza in town, but there are enough negatives to impact rating:

All orders are at the front counter, whether dining in or takeout. This causes the line at the counter to be 3-5 deep (or more) a lot of the time.

The staff turnover is pretty significant and slanted toward teens, it's rare to have the same person behind the counter take your order from one week to the next.

Their pizzas are pretty pricey. It's not uncommon to spend $10-15 more for comparable food quantities elsewhere in town. Granted the quality is better here, but that's a pretty big difference when ordering 2 large pizzas & cheese bread.

They nickel & dime you for stuff other places give for free. Want garlic butter crust on your pizza? That's 50 cents, & sometimes they forget to add it. Ranch or pizza sauce for your breadsticks? They're 50 cents each, and not included with your breadstick order.

My most recent visit resulted in an argument over honoring a loyalty card. The first person was unsure if I could redeem a card for a small specialty pizza vs. the small 2-topping pizza as listed on the card. The second person said I could, but the third person trying to help her with the refund said I couldn't. She eventually agreed to honor the card (which I had to ask the second person to return to me, as well as a copy of my receipt I had also asked her to provide), but by this time I was just ready to go home & not hold up the line behind me any longer. I moved to Tecumseh two months ago from Buffalo, NY (a great pizza city if you haven’t been). It’s been tough to find a place that fills the pizza-shaped hole in my heart since I left my hometown, but Basil Boys is that missing piece. Everything I have had from there is delicious at an amazing price, and I love that I can sit down for my meal and feel welcome as soon as I enter the door.

Beyond that, the staff and service goes above and beyond. As I mentioned, I recently moved and accidentally left my temporary license on the counter. Before I even had a chance to retrace my steps, the owner brought it over to my apartment, on a Sunday when they are closed no less!

Basil Boys is one if my favorite resturants. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Their pizza is amazing. They have a special on Thursdays where you get a nice large 1 topping pizza for $12. Keep in mind this is premium pizza, not the bargain kind, so that's a great price! I love to check out their daily specials. They have some great items like bacon, chicken, ranch quesadillas. Their delicious bread sticks can be picked up and paired with any meal. Another feature I enjoy of Basil Boys is their catering. The prices are very afordable.
