The atmosphere of the place was promising. When we ordered and our food arrived super quickly we were surprised. Everything LOOKED good. But as we started eating things went downhill very quickly. I got the plate of tea sandwiches and fruit and there was very little filling and the bread on the outside was stale. While i can accept a certain level of premade i still expect a better ratio of filling to bread. There was a rotten grape on my plate (which my luck I discovered after i had eaten a different one) and my friend got their cottage pie. There was literally two tiny bits of carrot and like maybe 7 peas. It wasn’t seasoned the best but it was palatable. We also realized they were microwaving everything as we heard the beeps and opening/slamming of the microwave door. After looking we realized their “kitchen” space was just a tiny walled off area behind us. The tea itself was fantastic but thats more to do with well sourced blends than them. While i would forgive them having instant mash and gravy ok their microwaved cottage pie for 12$ i could get the same thing from the freezer aisle at the store for a fraction of the price. To be completely honest, while i dont recommend their savories I did not get any of their dessert so that well and truly could be wonderful. Their tea blends are also very good so if you choose to go here i suggest sticking to the tea. These are all things that can be improved however and i hope to have a better experience when i visit...
Read moreWhile driving through Tecumseh on our way to Hidden Lakes Garden, we decided we were hungry so stopped in downtown and were delighted to spot the British Tea Garden (aka British Pantry Tea Garden Cafe). What a gem! It's a lovely British-themed gift shop combined with a cafe for tea and lunch. The decor with pictures of Queen Elizabeth and the royal family made me feel I'd been transported to London. The shop had many lovely gifts to choose from. There was an extensive tea menu and we chose Tea On The Beach, served in beautiful tea cups with a china pot. The service was wonderful and so was the food. My husband enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie and I had the cold luncheon plate (pictured), which was a fresh and savory light lunch. For dessert he had the carrot cake (excellent) and I had the lemon parfait (pictured) which was tart, creamy and delicious a serving large enough to share. I've been craving that parfait ever since! There are gluten-free choices on the menu, which I loved. We highly recommend and will definitely be dining...

The main attraction is the wall behind the cash register filled to the brim with all sorts of loose leaf tea that you could imagine. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are very patient when you try to decide what type of tea you want to buy, they also make suggestions. The merchandise also includes hand crafted scarves, soaps, jewelry, holiday decorations, kitchen towels, cards, imported snacks, unbelievable scone mix (the same mix they use to make their scones in the cafe). There is also a cafe where you get fresh brewed tea, pastries, and sandwiches. The overall feel of the shop is cozy, warm, relaxing and small town boutique. It's definitely worth your while and a must for all tea enthusiasts. P.S. they also do phone orders for tea and will...
