Our waitress was excellent. Other waitresses in the past have been excellent as well. The two times we had a male waiter, it was not a good experience. This is simply an observation based on dining here about 7 times.
The food is generally good 6/10 and in line with pricing. Recently, they appear to be skimping on protein and loading with vegetables. In this period of rapid inflation, restaurants have to choose between lowering food costs, or upping menu prices. Peppers has definitely chosen the former.
Finally, what really ruined a decent dinner tonight.. I spent well over $100 on dinner for 2 adults and a kid. I wasn't happy that my fajitas were mostly vegetables, but I said nothing and tried to enjoy my dinner. As we were leaving, I asked for a couple tortillas to go since I had used the tortillas provided.
The waitress came back obviously uncomfortable that she was told to request our card to pay for a couple tortillas. At this point I knew the management was trash and decided to leave without the ridiculous extra step of paying for two tortillas. Has management ever considered providing the commensurate amount of tortilla vs potential amount of tortillas necessary to complete the meal as presented?
For reference, the average cost of a 6" tortilla wholesale in the great lakes region is $0.08.
For a food cost savings of $0.16.. this management allowed a very good server to be put in an uncomfortable situation, a customer paying an average of $40 per person to be uncomfortable, and now this review which will deter at least a few families from spending their money here.
It's well known that restaurants have a very high probability of failure. In my opinion, the problem is not the model of the restaurant business. The problem is that so many people that venture into the business have no clue what it takes to make a restaurant successful consistently. Peppers will become an example of that shortly. Watch as they continue to focus on opening new locations and the customer experience...
Read moreI was hoping to see the black menu but they had a different type of menu. From the pictures, the black menu had Gluten Free and Vegetarian items marked. The new menu did not appear to have those.
As soon as we sat down, a waiter took our drink order, and then someone brought out chips and salsa. I was not terribly impressed with the salsa. It was okay. The chips were good. They were the thicker corn kind.
I was surprised that there was no salt and pepper on the table.
I quickly ordered for the kids and myself. I ordered a hard beef taco with rice and black beans for one kiddo and a soft beef taco with rice and black beans for the other kiddo.
For myself, I ordered the 3 taco combo. I asked for the potato and chorizo, steak, and chicken. I was able to eat 1 1/2 tacos! They are filling. It came with rice and beans. I ordered black beans. I asked for the cheese on the side. To my surprise, the meal also came with a mild and spicy sauce on the side.
I am Gluten Free, and I made sure to ask if the tacos were GF. The waiter said yes, but then right after leaving, my stomach started to hurt. I really hope everything I ordered and ate was GF, otherwise they lied and didn't care about allergies. (I hope that's not the case.)
I didn't realize how pricey fountain drinks are. Next time, I'm...
Read moreBeware!! Food arrived at different times. First dinner was cold. When next dinner came out we told server that first dinner was cold. 5 minutes later dinner came back microwaved with the side salad on the plate . So that was also hot now. Server was not very attentive . Ask for new silverware as he took the set when he microwaved the dinner. Brought us napkins. Had to show a fork to the server to get a fork. Got the bill and took it to pay. A 12 year old boy is running the front of the house. Told him of the issue and he just laughed. Another server came and went to get the manager owner and she was more concerned that we told the 12 year old it's not right to laugh when there is an issue. Sure I get it he's 12 but he is the head of the restaurant. Seating and ringing up your bill Not even sure that's legal since he is ringing up alcohol as well. None the less the staff and owner tried to turn it around as we were the bad guys for pointing out the poor service and the meal we had. We will for sure not be back or recommend this place to anyone we know or meet. Zero stars is...
