Just "WOW! I love this place. If I had the money, I'd eat here 3 to 5 times a week. Currently, I think I've had breakfast here 5 or 6 times in the last month and one lunch. It used to be called Kelly's Cafe. It's been around several decades. I loved the old owner and his daughter. However, the place was getting a little worse-for-wear and needed repairs. The food was really good with 101 omelette choices... and you couldn't complain about portions. J came in and bought the place and immediately started making updates and repairs. Don't get me wrong, it still has a very cool but cleaner old-school cafe vibe with a great atmosphere. It appears J took the best of the old menu and got rid of the stuff that nobody really ordered and added some really good new choices. The staff are "on-top" of it. Always there at the right time. Very kind and down-to-earth people with a smile. And the wait for your food regardless of the patrons population at that moment is still pretty decent. The portions are a little more than before. If you love omelettes as I do, try the avocado and bacon with whatever choice of cheese you want. If you're a true American, add extra bacon. The parking it very easy to get in-and-out, but the location, if you've never been there, is kinda hidden away off of 202. Rarely do you have to wait to be seated....its usually, seating is usually immediate. I am reluctant for the popularity of this place to get too big....well....because....its my favorite place and I don't like waiting when I'm hungry for good food. July 28th, 2024. Just a recent update. Nothing has changed. The food and service are still awesome. I just love the staff there. Really good people. A true American Cafe. šŸ‘

We planned a day trip to Tehachapi; after doing a Google Maps search, we found J's Hideaway Tehachapi. We got there 30 minutes before they where to close. We walked in, were greeted warmly, and were shown to a table by the window. When we got there they had several people at tables. Our waiter greeted us again, and we placed our order. The food came out fast and hot. We had a great experience; the food and the staff made it a fun and relaxing experience. We will definitely be back at J's Hideaway!!šŸ”šŸ„Ŗ

BEST FOOD we've had in AGES! The home fried potatoes were DIVINE! EVERYTHING we ate was DELICIOUS! EVERYONE of the staff was so nice and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has an interesting (in my opinion attractive) dƩcor. J's Hideaway will now be our #1 go-to restaurant choice! Photo is of what I ordered: Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with side of Home Fried Potatoes.

This place is NOT a diamond in the rough, you pay out the yazoo for just a sandwich and kids meal. I paid $36.62 for skimpy Ruben sandwich that the meat was overcooked and a side salad of all white iceberg lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese a few tiny diced tomatoes, 5 chicken nuggets and frozen crinkle fried potatoes, a kids drink and a medium drink. They charged a 4% processing fee, when my debt card only charges .05%. The service personnel was its saving grace and I tipped 18%. First time there but last time there and next time I’ll drive to Kohnen’s Country Bakery, well worth the drive and a good hearty Ruben...

This was our very first time visiting Tehachapi, and J's Hideaway was the first restaurant we ate at. The first impression we received from the staff has made us consider living up here. We were received warmly by the staff, even the patrons all smiled and said hello. In a word we were loved. The food was amazing! I ordered a chile/beef hotdog omelette🤤🤤, ridiculously delicious!! My wife had the eggs Benedict and was slurping the hollandaise sauce with a straw when there was nothing left to eat! I highly recommend you do some self care and eat here! We will definitely be back!!...
