I never leave reviews but I just had to today after this. I've heard good things about this place so I wanted to try it out. I went on the website to place an order for pick up for me and my coworkers, but the website wouldn't let me choose just the Brown Sugar Milk Tea by itself without it being in the combo. I went ahead and called instead to place the order and the guy who answered the phone was extremely rude to me. He said they don't take over the phone orders which is completely understandable, however given the situation of the website not allowing me to click the brown sugar tea by itself and grabbing this on my 30 minute lunch, I didn't have another option. I explained the situation to him and he gave me the loudest huff like it was so inconvenient for him to do and said "fine, I guess I can take it over the phone" in which I immediately offered to just place it in store if it was that inconvenient for him to do and he was just like nope, I'll just take it now with such an attitude. As I was ordering, I ordered the brown sugar tea with the cheesecake topping and he cut me off saying "yep it already comes with that" with the snarkiest attitude. This is my first time trying this place so how was I supposed to know that it came with that topping... The entire conversation he made me feel so bad about even placing an order with them that I almost just didn't go pick it up. When I got there, there wasn't one single person in the lobby so it's not like they were slammed or anything. I've had numerous customer service jobs in the food industry, I get it when people are being difficult and ask for unreasonable things, which is why I am always understanding and nice to EVERY person working in that industry because I've been there. This guy was just not having a good day or something, but I've never had anyone in the service industry make me feel so bad about ordering there lol. To top it all off, he made me the wrong drink so I didn't even get my brown sugar milk tea at the end of this debacle (in which I feel like he did it on purpose to prove a point). I don't even know what I got because it looks completely different from the picture and tastes like straight mint. I literally will never return here again because of...
Read moreI recently visited Boba Toko Tempe Marketplace and decided to try their phở, a new addition to the menu. As someone with a discerning palate who rarely finds a dish that ticks all the boxes, I must say this was a surprising and highly satisfying experience.
The broth was absolutely impeccable—clear, aromatic, and rich without being greasy. You can tell it’s been simmered to perfection, capturing the authentic essence of Vietnamese phở. The noodles were cooked just right, tender but firm, a balance many places struggle to achieve. The portion was generous and beautifully presented with fresh herbs, allowing you to adjust the flavors to your liking.
What really stood out were the toppings: the beef slices were tender and flavorful, and the brisket melted in the mouth. For those who are as picky as I am, this phở manages to bring a clean yet complex flavor profile, which shows their attention to quality and detail.
It’s rare to find a place that nails a dish so well, especially when it’s a new addition. Boba Toko has raised the bar for phở in the area. I’ll definitely be back for more—and if you’re as particular about food as I am, I promise this will not disappoint! 5 stars...
Read moreThis place has a nice selection of specialty boba drinks. Upon walking in and seeing the menu, I was reminded of some boba places I love in the Bay Area such as Teaspoon. I think it's good when boba shops have a smaller menu because that means they can make high quality drinks and perfect them over time. We tried the earl lavender and strawberry milk. The strawberry milk was amazing! It had a great strawberry flavor and just the right amount to go with the milk. The earl lavender was just okay. I couldn't really taste the earl grey tea but the lavender flavor was pretty good. Overall the drink tasted like the milk to tea ratio was off because it tasted more watery than creamy. Both drinks weren't too sweet even though we didn't adjust the sweetness amount, which is great in my opinion. We asked for no ice in our drinks and an employee working on our drinks accidentally put ice in one of them but was kind enough to remake it without ice which I really appreciate. Overall the employees seemed really helpful and nice. We'll be returning again in the...
