I recently had the pleasure of dining at Forefathers in Tempe, Arizona, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience. The food was simply amazing, earning a solid 10 out of 10 from me. I opted for the Philly cheesesteak, which was incredibly fulfilling and allowed for customization to suit my taste. The portion size was just right, not too much for a single person.
The sweet potato fries were absolutely great, though I wish they could've been a little warmer. Despite this, they were so tasty that I could enjoy them even without any ranch or additional toppings. The drink selection was also impressive; I particularly appreciated that the Sprite and lemonade had the perfect carbonation levels, which is often hard to find.
The packaging was also noteworthy, with separate compartments for jalapeños and sauces, all conveniently stored in a cooler next to the refrigerated items. The staff were exceptional, with everyone wearing a smile and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Even the other customers seemed to be in a great mood, adding to the positive vibe of the place.
The service was top-notch, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my food was ready. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, which was impressive for a busy day. Overall, I highly recommend Forefathers, especially if you're a fan of Philly cheesesteaks. I don’t know of any other place that offers jalapeño cilantro ranch, making it a unique and enjoyable dining experience in Tempe,...
Read moreI’m from the east coast and was looking forward to finding an authentic cheesesteak restaurant but unfortunately Forefathers isn’t it. They’re getting three stars for the crispy fries, friendly and swift service, and spotless bathroom however, the actual cheesesteak wasn’t edible nor tasted anything like a real cheesesteak.
The bread was soft and soggy as if it was stale and microwaved—big no, no for an authentic cheesesteak. The bread should be fresh and crispy like a freshly baked baguette. The bread is just as important with any sandwich.
I got the chicken and it was a joke. Nothing like a real chicken cheesesteak. They diced it which is not how it’s supposed to be done and the chicken was rubbery and bland (e.g. like a bad Subway sandwich). Even what seemed like microwaved cheese couldn’t save it because it wasn’t melted properly. Nothing about the way the cheesesteak looked or tasted was authentic. I couldn’t eat the bread at all and tried to eat the chicken with a fork with no success. What a waste.
The fries were awesome however and I would return for the fries alone. They were thin and crispy.
The restaurant has freshly sliced sweet peppers and hot peppers—both good.
Fountain soda is available along with iced tea (black and flavored).
The bathrooms were extremely clean which was impressive and...
