A good place to eat in the Tampa area According to the web, the Mission Barbeque Brand …” is an American barbecue restaurant chain based in Glen Burnie, Maryland”. Two people (Kraus and Newton) opened the first location on September 11, 2011, as a way to support the military, police, firefighters, and first responders. As of April 2023 there were 95 of these restaurants in the United States. All of the locations that I have been to have the same basic layout. You order and pay at one end of a counter and when your name is called, you pick up your food. The seating is wooden booths around the edge of the inner dining room with tables in the middle. Drinks are a serve-yourself affair right after the counter. First responders and military memorabilia line the walls. Food is served on metal trays and, obviously centers around barbeque. Each table has 6 barbeque sauces to choose from offering a variety of tastes for the customer. The food at this location was delicious. I had fries and a BBQ sandwich with tea. The staff was nice and the dining room and tables were kept clean. The prices are very reasonable for the current economy—definitely a place to visit for a good meal in the area.

This Mission BBQ is in a convenient location and was easy to find. The restaurant was clean, well staffed and we were greeted quickly with smiles all around. The menu spans lots of BBQ options and has a variety of sides to choose from to add to your order. We ordered the Turkey Sandwich with Green Beans along with the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Fries. Both came out fairly quickly and cooked well. We also tried the Banana Puddin'. There are several bottle varieties of sauces to use should you want to add flavor (though none is really needed). They also have seasonings like Old Bay to sprinkle on your fries if you wish. Standard pricing as restaurants go nowadays. And no, they did not push giving a tip. I'm sure you could give one if you wish however it's an order up front and you pick it up type place so no tip is suggested. The place is decorated with first responder and military memorabilia and wording to never forget 911. An overall great place to eat and proud to go there.

I placed my order online and created an account. My order said it would be ready at 7:55pm. I got there a little after 8pm. They don't see my order. Asked me if it could be under a different name. No it's under my name. I go outside to get my phone to show my email confirmation. While showing the confirmation the manager ask me if I received a confirmation. I said this is what you're looking at. It had the time I placed the order. The time it would be available and also said thank you for your order. That still wasn't good enough for him. So I pull up my account and show him the charge. He says oh that's why because it's still pending. I'm just looking at him now. All charges pend until they post. He says we will go ahead and make it this time. I will never go this place ever again. Oh and then they gave me the wrong order. I ordered the whole chicken but got shredded.

I suppose I only have myself to blame. We came in to eat 45 minutes before closing. I don't eat shrimp often because my boyfriend is allergic to it. And I've really want to try the shrimp. My boyfriend and our daughter got their meals first. Mine had to wait. Which is fine. When i got my order i didn't get the second side i had requested because they had just ran out and instead of calling us to the counter to ask me what other side i may want they just brought (cold) fries. Mind you my other side was cheesy potatoes. 2 sides of potatoes wasn't what i was looking forward to. My shrimp looked great though. Only 1 wasn't deveined and that's okay. What struck me as odd is that the manager im assuming seemed to be coaching the gentleman before bringing me my food. Once i started eating my shrimp the first 2 at the top had a long hair wrapped in the tail of the shrimp. It made me so sick to see that. So i separated the 3 shrimp that were touching it. But for the life of me it just turned my stomach and i had to force myself to eat what i had. I didn't touch the fries. And i didn't complain to the guy? He seemed nervous when he came to ask me how my food was and i didn't want him to feel bad. I could tell the place was in a rush to close. I give it 3 stars because for 55 bucks we got a sampler, kids meal and shrimp plate and at least 2 out of the 3 meals were good. This post lost 2 stars because i was disgusted and had a hard time eating and cant afford the money to not eat what we purchased. I've worked in restaurants the first half of my life and i have high standards for service. This just backs my opinion that its not worth going out to eat anymore. Home cooked food is safer and better tasting. I wont be returning to this location again. I truly hope that no one has to find hair in their food or just given whatever the restaurant wants to give in a replacement for a side, and then feel worried their food will be tampered with if...

We drove over 30 minutes to dine at this location, but we will not be back due to dishonest practices. It is a shame that a place that plasters their walls with images of honor and courage show no integrity. We came in this weekend and ordered two combos. Our total seemed a bit higher than we expected based on the menu prices, but the cashier brushed it off and told us that their prices had just increased. We were not offered a receipt. When we got to our seat, we added up the totals of our selections and as suspected, it was about $5 less than what we were charged. I asked the cashier for a receipt and she printed it for me. Then I see that we were charged extra for the special "hero" cups. I told the cashier that I didn't realize that there was another option, as she didn't ask if we wanted the special cups. She told me, "You have to tell us that you don't want the hero cups because we are trying to sell them." I looked across the cash registers and regular paper cups were not visible, so it wasn't clear that there was another option to ask for. The manager refunded the money, but never once apologized or instructed the cashiers to make sure they actually ask if someone wanted to purchase the extra cup (which cost $2.50 more). When we originally asked why our total was so high, that was a perfect opportunity for the cashier to explain that the cup was an up charge, but she did not do that. Looking around the restaurant, nearly everyone had the hero cups which makes me think that they were automatically charging everyone. Whether this was a directive from management or something the cashiers chose to do on their own is irrelevant because in either case it is extremely dishonest...

The food was really good, I tried the three meat sampler today. I got the pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket. Brisket was just okay, but they sent someone with samples of the chopped brisket and that was a lot better. But I loved the pulled pork and chicken. I also had green beans. I couldn't eat it all so they gave me a to go box. I tried multiple of their six sauces on the table, I didn't try spicy, but the rest were really good. I've had their ribs before and the round something special a while back. Their special this time was barbeque shrimp 🍤, but I haven't tried that yet. The food was cheap especially for something I can have left over for another day. I will say years ago someone took me here, they gave us free coupons to come back, but no one wanted to. I went back because it was the place n walking or scooter 🛴 distance to get ribs. Last time I tried the pulled pork I think, I tried it again today because of the sampler and loved it. There are fast food places near by, but I feel like you can get a really good meal at an actual restaurant for the same price. Studies show if the employees are paid well and happier and can spend more, happy employees make happier customers, but they don't studies show they don't need to raise the price to pay the employees, the lower prices and good food will bring in people. Just like this place, mission barbeque. I didn't see too many customers but they deserve way more than the Wendy's next door abouts. Sorry Wendy's. I could complain about Wendy's but this is to compliment mission barbeque. ...
