This review is for Piney Flats location only: I don’t know why the Piney Flats location is so different than the others, but it is and it’s not good. Nothing bad to say about the service. Our server was great. But the food was not good at all. We ordered a slice of veggie deluxe and it came out as a slice of cheese with uncooked veggies, a few slices of ham and pepperonis loosely piled on top. It was not edible. The server was gracious and took it off the bill for us, but the replacement slice (regular pepperoni only) was so thin that the tomato sauce and cheese just slid right off if you picked up the slice. And this is the worst part: they add 3.95% to your bill if you pay with a card and no one tells you upfront. That info isn’t listed on the menu either. I called to see what was up and they said the cash price and card price are each listed on the ticket. I’m not denying that but none of the other locations do this so I didn’t know to expect it. And truthfully, all I look at when I get a restaurant check is if the food I ordered is on there and what my total is. In big black numbers, ours was 37.78 and then when our server brought back my card to sign the receipt, it was $39.27. That’s just so annoying. Sure it was only $1.49 but it’s still off putting to be brought a bill that says one thing and then give your server a card and your check comes back higher. The person I talked to on the phone said they have a notice at the register but when you dine in, you don’t go to the register so you won’t see it. The server does that for you. There is only one place in the store where they tell people about it and it’s at the front entrance on a small window sticker. You have to be standing outside the entrance truly looking for it or you will not see it. Nothing on the menu or anywhere else about the extra charge if you don’t pay cash. So for barely mediocre food and lack of pricing transparency, we won’t be back to the Piney Flats location. We love JB’s but will only visit Johnson City location from now on. They have consistently tasty, good food and you don’t get two separate totals when they bring you a check. It’s also not fair for this location to expect servers to tell guests about the cash vs. card thing. That’s on management alone. Servers don’t make those decisions and also how frustrating for them and their guests to all day everyday hear people complain about it and get asked questions of why it’s like that and there’s no real reason. It’s the owners job to make sure the different payment info is visible at...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Johnny Brusco in Piney Flats TN. We were impressed. Initial impression as we walked through the door was very good. It smelled good, not a greasy dirty smell but a fresh food cooking smell. Everything was clean, no sticky floor, tables, chairs and benches were spotless. We sat down and started through the menu and our server was right there. I asked for a 1/2 and 1/2 sweet tea. It came back blended perfectly and my later refills were exactly the same. My wife order the Bruschetta and I ordered the Bacon cheese fries as an appetizer. We shared them and both of us had the same eye raised impressed look on our faces as we bit into our own then the others order. We had planned on taking part of our appetizer home and the uneaten part of our pizza. We failed on the appetizer part. They were wiped out between the 2 of us. The bread on the bruschetta was excellent and the vegetables tasted very fresh. The blend of tastes was also very good. We discussed dinner later and felt the bruschetta would be a great meal alone. The same with the fries. Our main dish was a large (16") Johnny;s Deluxe pizza. It was excellent. We rated it higher in flavor and texture than the local Pizza Plus Pizza and the Little Caesars but we also feel Little Caesars is the high speed low drag cheap we just want pizza for supper. The Johnny Brusco in our opinion is rated at or very slightly above the Bristol Mad Greek pizza. We plan to return and order another pizza with the same stuff we usually get on our Mad Greek Pizza to compare them accurately. We liked the texture of the crust it was not hard and tough to eat but it held the toppings very well. The toppings were a delight. The vegetable were fresh tasting as with the Bruschetta. They had just the right texture, not limp and soft but not an uncooked hard bite. And there were a lot of toppings. They claim on the menu "Loaded to the max" they did not disappoint. And at the same time it was well distributed. You got a bit of every topping in every bite making for a great experience in eating. We did take home some leftover fries and a lot of the pizza. The fires reheated the next day for lunch were very good. The pizza for dinner was very enjoyable. The price was what we expected for a sit down restaurant with drinks appetizers and meal. The service was spot on. Drinks refilled before needed, food delivered quickly and hot. We have decided this will be a regular place for pizza. What we get is well worth the cost. We...
Read moreMy first time at Johnny Brusco's since my friends and husband rave about the pizza. We chose the Piney Flats location as we were near there. Sorry to say, I won't ever go to this location, or probably won't try this company, ever again due to cook and waitress on 9/6/25. We ordered the large pizza with light sauce, pepperoni, green olives, and extra cheese. The pizza came loaded with sauce, but that's not much of an issue .... what the issue was there was literally OVER 1 cup of diced green olives (and ample olive juice) just thrown onto the pizza everywhere, but mostly the center. The taste and amount of green olives was so overpowering we couldn't even eat it! The center was so soggy from the olives and olive juice. We picked about 3/4 of the clumps of olives off the pizza in hopes of salvaging some of it to eat and piled it off to the side! I regret not taking a picture! The waitress asked of we wanted a box. I showed her the huge heaping pile of green olives that we pulled off the pizza and asked her if that was normal because it was ridiculous. She said, yes, they measure out everything. So I asked if they put 1 1/4 cup of green olives on a pizza. She said yes, then asked if we wanted a box. I told her no, it wasn't edible. $46.00 to just leave most of the pizza at the table with over a cup of green olives piled high. She didn't care. We left. I won't be back. Obviously the cook was having...
