I attempted to eat at Lula Mae's twice and had to leave before ordering both times. The first time was on a Sunday after church. I was asked if I wanted the buffet. I said yes and I was escorted to a table where I sat for a while with no drink being ignored by the servers. Since I was really hungry, I went to check out the buffet. It was almost entirely depleted. Since it was late I figured they would probably not restock it and left but I thought it was odd that I was asked if I wanted it. Why if there was hardly any food? I really wanted to try out that buffet though so I gave them another chance. This time I went earlier on a Saturday. I walked in and decided to take a look at the buffet to see if it was stocked and if it looked like a good option. I was going to order a breakfast plate if not. I just quickly looked it over and suddenly there was the blonde haired hostess (I assume) practically blocking me from moving forward. Then she asked me if I was "just looking or was I going to stay and eat?" WTH? I told her I had never gone into a restaurant to just look in my life. It was so unbelievably rude I just couldn't believe it. Stupidly, I decided to overlook it and still hope to have a good experience so I asked to be seated. She then directed me, a party of one, to a side of the restaurant with just two small tables available and said to sit where I wanted. I chose the larger of the two but it had some water on it. The hostess then interacted with a person bussing another table to I guess ask her to wipe it down but her whole demeanor was clearly disrespectful of me like she thought I was being a problem. I have eyes you know. That was the final straw. I left. I was so mad at her rudeness by that point that I let her and everyone know why. I have never done that before but I have never been treated like that before. I will never be back. Do they just not want single diners? Or do they just want a certain kind of clientele? I see other people raving about the service so why was I treated so badly? Maybe not everyone is welcome...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a new go-to restaurant, this is it. Can’t say good enough things about this wonderful restaurant. The ambience, the staff, the FOOD were all incredible. We had the Smash burger after seeing it here and good lord… it was DELICIOUS (coming from a foodie that lived in NY with high standard for food, I don’t even like burgers like that but I had to try this one). The chef Bobby even came out to ask how we liked it, we told him he’s a genius! We also had the crab cakes and coffee, literally everything we ate and drank was DELICIOUS, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and with great attention to detail. Cara and Cozy were absolutely wonderful, what lovely people!! everyone was relaxed and seemed to truly love their job. The vibes were immaculate and we left this place ELATED with our experience.
We’d seen a lady bussing tables and cleaning, we later found out it was the OWNER Beverly. Restaurant wasn’t even busy, it goes to show you the kind of person she is and her values in running this wonderful place. We will be regularly coming from Dallas to dine here (and have breakfast too! They have an omelette bar we can’t wait to try).
This has to be my new favorite restaurant and I’m sure you’ll love it...
Read moreWent in for lunch. Ordered chicken wrap with chips. My husband ordered a sandwich w/egg on it and a soup with onion rings. We waited quite a long time. Waitresses came by 3 times assuring our meal would be ready soon. We got drink refills before the meal ever came. Meal finally delivered. Looks wonderful as far as presentation. Tasted homemade chips they were burnt and no seasoning. Onion rings burnt and not seasoned. Husband soup was cold (minestrone) sandwich falling apart but he ate half. My meal the spinach wrap was so full it was falling out of the wrap. It was drowned in dressing and soggy. I began to eat it and got partway through the 1st cut half when the taste smell changed to fish. Mind you it was a chicken wrap. I was having to use my fork to eat the inside. I picked up my fork and it smelled like fish. I smelled the half of wrap I had dug the filling out of and it smelled like fish also. Don't know how this happened. Unfortunately we will not eat there again. Couldn't believe they would serve burnt and cold food to customers....
